Robert Edward Randolph of Princeton died Nov. 9 at University Medical Center at Princeton. He was 78.
An employee of Princeton University, he held the positions of foreman, shop steward, president of the Service Employees International Union Local No. 175 and supervisor of the custodial department.
A graduate of Princeton High School, he continued his education at the American Motel and Hotel Institute on Housekeeping, Communications and Human Relations, receiving five diplomas.
He joined the Marines in 1950, but due to back injuries, he transferred to the 30th AAA Field Artillery in Fort Lewis, Wash., and served as an automatic weapons instructor. After leaving the service in 1953, he returned to Princeton and joined the staff of Princeton University.
A devoted member of Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church of Princeton, he served on the Senior Usher Board, Building Fund Committee, Pastor’s Aid Auxillary and Steward Board.
He enjoyed all types of sports, dancing, theater, jazz and jogging.
Son of the late John and May Elizabeth Jennings Randolph, brother of the late John and Donald W. Randolph, he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Viola Randolph; sisters Doloris Dennard and Mary Clark; brother-in-law John Clark; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral was Thursday at Mt. Pisgah A.M.E Church, Princeton.
Arrangements were by Hughes Funeral Home, Trenton.

Grew up in Princeton
TRENTON Tyrone D. Silvis died Saturday at home. He was 59.
Born in Princeton, he attended Princeton public schools and lived in Trenton most of his life.
Mr. Silvis was a guard for Tri-County and a former employee of Rider University.
He was a freelance artist, singer, writer and composer.
Son of the late Richard Sr. and Mildred Silvis, brother of the late Richard Silvis Jr. and Frances Silvis, he is survived by sisters Linda Silvis, Florence Wood, Lucy Murray and Betty Silvis; brother Steven D. Silvis; sisters-in-law Willette Silvis and Jennifer Brown; aunts Carmela S. Kennedy and Frances Lewis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at the Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, with the Rev. Darrell Armstrong officiating.
Calling hours will be 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton.
Edward W. Graycar
Sister lived in Rocky Hill, Montgomery
OMAHA, Neb. Edward W. Graycar died Saturday at Avista Hospital after becoming ill while visiting in Lafayette, Colo. He was 66.
He was executive vice president and chief operations officer at Physicians Mutual Insurance Co. of Omaha.
Born in Trenton, he attended Hamilton schools and graduated from Rutgers University. He was an Army veteran.
Prior to joining Physicians Mutual, Mr. Graycar was a senior partner with Deloitte & Touche in New York City and earlier worked at IBM.
Mr. Graycar was active in the Munroe-Meyer Institute of Omaha, Merrymakers Association, Omaha Public Library Foundation and Boy Scouts.
Son of the late Edward Ducko and Margaret Hobson Graycar, he is survived by his wife, Eva Nolfors Graycar; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Lisa of Lafayette, Colo.; brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Mary of Hamilton; sister Linda, a former resident of Rocky Hill and Montgomery Township, and her companion, Ray Rettberg, both of Hamilton; grandchildren Edson and Oscar of Lafayette, Colo.; nephew Leo; and niece Mary Wyckoff and nephew Michael Gill and his wife, Shawna, children of his late sister, Pamela Graycar Gill.
The funeral will be Saturday at the Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield, Conn.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
