Free breakfast
for active military
Sunday, Nov. 26 The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 on Fourth Avenue in Roebling will have its monthly Sunday breakfast. In honor of Veterans Day, all active military attending the breakfast will eat free of charge.
You must have your ID card. The all-you-can-eat buffet consists of scrambled eggs, pancakes, home fries, bacon, sausage, Military SOS, toast, orange juice, coffee, tea or milk. Serving starts at 8:30 a.m. and continues until 11:30 a.m.
All are welcome. The cost is $6 for an adult, $4 for children ages 5 to 12 and free to those under 5 years.
Food and toy drive
Monday, Nov. 27 to Wednesday, Dec. 20 The Student Council of Florence High School will hold its annual Holiday Food and Toy Drive. The program aids families in need in the Florence Townhsip community. Donations of non-perishable food items, new and gently used toys, and new and gently used clothing are currently being accepted. Earth talks
Tuesday, Nov. 28 The Bordentown City Environmental Commission is sponsoring an Earth Talks Speaker Series: "Get To Know Your Local Environment!" at 7 p.m. at the Carslake Community Center. Take a photographic tour of the hidden green treasures of Bordentown City. Discover the beautiful waterways, plants, animals, and scenic vistas that exist within the city’s one square mile. Packages for military
Wednesday, Nov. 29 In support of military servicemen/women who are currently serving in the Middle East, the Peter Muschal Elementary School in Bordentown Township will be collecting donated items from students, faculty and family members and packaging them for shipment before the holidays.
At least two PMS family members will be receiving packages: Staff Sergeant Jonathan Ponzer, father of kindergartner Stephen Ponzer, is serving in the Army and stationed in Kuwait. Lance Corporal Joseph Haluska, son of staff member Dottie Haluska, is serving in the Marines and stationed in Iraq.
PMS children, parents, staff and PTA members will be packaging the items in boxes for shipping at 6 p.m. in the Peter Muschal School Auditorium.

Flu shots
Thursday, Nov. 30 A flu clinic will be held at the Rutgers Eco-Complex, 1200 Florence-Columbus Road, Mansfield, from 9 a.m. to noon. Flu shots are offered to senior citizens and chronically ill adult residents and pneumonia shots are available to those over 65. Friday, Dec. 1 The Bordentown Chapter 257, Order of the Eastern Star, is planning some upcoming activities:

Winter Glow Ball
Friday, Dec. 1 The Arc of Monmouth’s 40th Anniversary Winter Glow Ball will be held at the Shore Casino in Atlantic Highlands, with the theme of "Celebrating Our History." All past honorees, committee members, and chairpersons are being honored. Live and silent auctions are planned in addition to a $100 50/50 raffle and a $5 raffle for a trip for four to Disney world that includes six days and five nights in Disney Resorts, five day hopper passes for Disney Theme Parks, and airfare. Auction and gift table
Friday, Dec. 1 Jacksonville Presbyterian Church will host a community auction at 7:30 p.m., at the Jacksonville Community Center to raise money for the youth group’s mission trip to central Appalachia this coming summer. Admission is free and dessert will be served. Items to be auctioned include crafts of all kinds, holiday decorations, homemade foodstuffs and much, much more.
"A Greater Gift" table will feature handcrafted items from around the world including jewelry, pottery, sculptures, clothing, baskets and food. The "A Greater Gift" program is part of SERRV International. SERRV helps poor families in low-income countries.

Saturday, Dec. 2 The Friends of St. Mary’s School will hold its next flea market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in St. Mary’s School Hall and Yard, 30 Elizabeth St., Bordentown.
Inside tables are $10. Outside space is only $5. Come taste St. Mary’s famous tuna salad, egg salad sandwiches and hot dogs. A vast selection of articles is for sale from many vendors.

and book signing
Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 10 Gennady Spirin will be showcased from Dec. 2 through Jan. 5 at The Artful Deposit Gallery, 201 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown. Original artwork, limited edition books, and prints of the newly-released "The Night Before Christmas" will be on display. Casino trip
Sunday, Dec. 3 The Knights of Columbus No. 570 is sponsoring a trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. The bus will leave at 4:30 p.m. from the St. Mary’s Church parking lot, Elizabeth St., Bordentown, for a four-hour long stay at the casino. Auditions
Wednesday, Dec. 5 and Thursday, Dec. 6 The Bordentown Community Players is holding auditions for Paul Rudnick’s "I Hate Hamlet" at 7 p.m. in the old auditorium at Rancocas Valley Regional High School, in the old auditorium (under the clock tower), 520 Jacksonville Road, Mount Holly, The cast needs two men between ages 20 and 30, a man to play John Barrymore at age 60, one woman in her late 20’s, one in her late 30’s to 40’s, and one woman about 70 years old.
In this play, Andrew is offered the role of Hamlet while moving into John Barrymore’s old apartment. Barrymore rises from the grave to coach Andrew in the role of both of their lives. The play will be performed in late May and early April 2007.

Saturday, Dec. 9 The Fountain of Life Center, 2035 Columbus Road, Florence, will hold its annual presentation of "A Christmas Spectacular" at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Dec. 9, 8 p.m. on Dec. 15, 1 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 16, 2 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 17 and 8 p.m. on Dec. 18.
Dancing toys "come alive," marching toy soldiers, the nativity story, and music, drama, and spectacular set designs make this event enjoyable for the whole family.

Christmas house tour
Sunday, Dec. 10 The Roebling Historical Society will hold its Historic Village of Roebling Christmas House Tour from 3 to 7 p.m. The tour will feature homes built by John A. Roebling’s Sons Co. Tickets are $12 or $10 in advance. A limited number of guided tour tickets are available for $18 and must be purchased in advance.
