The University Medical Center at Princeton will host the 2006 Lung Cancer Symposium on Dec. 1 at the Nassau Inn, with national experts scheduled to discuss the emerging issues related to conquering the disease.
The event, never before held in Princeton, will allow experts from around the country to discuss the innovative treatments, diagnosis and politics involved with treating lung cancer. The professional event will include presentations from seven guest speakers:
Dr. Joseph Aisner, director of the Thoracic Oncology Program at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey in New Brunswick.
Dr. Luis D. Berrizbeitia, cardiothoracic surgeon at University Medical Center at Princeton.
Richard A. Deynard of the Tobacco Control Resource Center in Boston.
Dr. Malcom M. DeCamp, chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
Dr. Phillip A. Dennis, head of the Signal Transduction Section at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Md.
Dr. David E. Midthun of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
Dr. Gary Strauss, oncologist at the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the Rhode Island Hospital and an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at Brown Medical School.
The event is for health-care professionals, and among the topics covered will be the causes and stages of lung cancer. Varying screening methods and molecular biology will also be discussed as well as how lung cancer is used in the public arena today.
