A 15-year-old Manville boy was charged with arson, burglary and other charges after he allegedly burned a 2003 Cadillac on the Adesa Auto Auctions property on North Main Street when the car got stuck as he was trying to steal it, police said.
Police received a report at 11:11 a.m. Nov. 20 that 13 cars parked along the southside fence line inside the Adesa compound yard were damaged by rocks thrown over the fence. The windows were broken and the cars were dented. The damage was estimated at $8,000.
At 1:41 p.m. on the same day, Adesa security reported $8,000 worth of damage to the gates and fences on the eastside of the property.
Police said they also found a 2003 black Cadillac, south of the property, with extensive mud, heavy front-end damage and fire damage in the interior of the car.
The damaged car was valued at $28,000.
According to police, the same boy had stolen the Cadillac inside the yard, crashed it through the fence, got it stuck in the mud and then attempted to burn it to hide his fingerprints.
The boy was processed and transported to juvenile detention.

Two teens were charged with simple assault at 2:25 p.m. on Nov. 22 after hitting a 13-year-old Manville boy with the door of a moving vehicle as he was walking on Huff Avenue, police said
According to police, the 13-year-old was transported to Somerset Medical Center for possible internal injuries. No information was available at press time regarding his condition.
Police said five boys were in a green pickup truck, allegedly driving around and opening the doors in an attempt to hit someone. Police found them on South Third Avenue near West Camplain Road.
All five boys, a 17-year-old from Bound Brook, 17-year-old from Bridgewater and three 16-year-old boys from Bridgewater were questioned about the assault.
One of the 16-year-old-boys from Bridgewater was charged with simple assault. The 17-year old, driver of the pickup, was charged with simple assault, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to comply with a provisional driver’s license.
They were processed and released to their parents.

Thomas R. Rodman, 35, of St. Louis, was charged with DWI after he was stopped on South Main Street at 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 24.
Police said Mr. Rodman was originally stopped for careless driving including pulling off the roadway without signaling, hitting the curb and nearly striking a fire hydrant.
He was transported to headquarters, processed and released.

At 8:40 p.m. on Nov. 25, Jonathan W. Tarsan, 25, of South 13th Avenue was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after he was stopped on Brooks Boulevard.
Police said Mr. Tarsan was stopped for having a loud muffler. Police smelled the odor of burnt marijuana in his car, police said.
He was transported to headquarters, processed and released.
