A 13-year-old Montgomery Township boy has been charged with sexual assault-related offenses, Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne Forrest and Montgomery Township Police Director Michael Beltranena announced Friday.
Mr. Forrest stated that on Nov. 29, a 12-year-old girl reported to Montgomery police that she had been assaulted while she was in the girls’ restroom at school. After the attack was reported to the police, the Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit joined in the investigation.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, a fingerprint matching the boy’s was found where the victim reported the assault occurred. Additionally, school records show that the 13-year-old signed out to go to the boys’ restroom at about 2 p.m. and a witness told detectives the boy was seen going toward the girls’ restroom, not the boys’ restroom, according to Mr. Forrest’s report.
The boy was charged with attempted aggravated sexual assault in the second degree and criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree and was transported to a juvenile detention center.
