West Camplain Road resident Chris Zarsky, 41, was killed Nov. 28 after crashing into a center divider on Route 1 North in North Brunswick near Ryders Lane.
"It’s a horrible tragedy," Diane Zarsky, his wife of eight years, said Wednesday. "And I still don’t have answers."
North Brunswick police said at about 8:45 p.m., Mr. Zarsky was driving a white 1995 Nissan pickup truck on the ramp from Ryders Lane onto Route 1 North.
"He never made it onto the highway," Lt. Roger Reinson said. "Instead of getting onto the highway he continued straight."
After coming off the ramp, he traveled north for a short distance before crashing into the center divider, according to police. No one else was in the vehicle.
Lt. Reinson said he does not believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
Mr. Zarsky was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead.
"They think something happened to him medically," Ms. Zarsky said. "He didn’t have control over the steering wheel or the brakes."
She said she will not receive an autopsy report for another 10 to 12 weeks.
Mr. Zarsky was born in New Brunswick and attended St. Peter’s High School, graduating in 1983. He had been a resident of Manville the past eight years.
"He loved sports and hanging out with his friends," Ms. Zarsky said. "He loved to cook especially during the holidays."
He worked as a linesman with Tricomm Services in Moorestown for 15 years and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville.
Ms. Zarsky also said her husband enjoyed hanging out with his "favorite" nephew, Ryan, who has just completed treatment for leukemia.
Funeral services were held Monday at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home in Manville. He was buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
Mr. Zarsky is survived by his father, Walter Sr. of Freehold; and three brothers, Walter Jr. of Monroe Township; Thomas of Franklin; and John of New Brunswick; in addition to his wife and extended family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Zarsky’s name to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation, Attn: Donations Processor, 807 Mantoloking Road, Brick, NJ 08723.
