Town reps either bored or live on Mars
To the editor:

The more I observe our local elected and appointed officials in Lawrence, the more I think they either 1) live on Mars, 2) are very bored individuals, or 3) both live on Mars and are bored.
Those who approve the shopping mall expansion (and as a result more traffic gridlock in the area) and fiercely fight against the move of the CHS hospital to Lawrence probably live on Mars and are out of touch with regular folks of Lawrence and their needs. Those who want our property taxes to be used to finance local election campaigns are probably bored with no ideas at all about how to govern; only the bored can come up with such an idea.
Oh, and there also is the fourth category – the ones who would like to see our property taxes reach Mars, so they tell Lawrence residents to vote twice a year (in April and December) to approve higher school taxes. They all deserve a loud booooooooooooooo.

Resident praises LHS version

of ‘A Christmas Carol’
To the editor:

High school plays come and go. As far as I’m concerned, Lawrence High School’s production of "A Christmas Carol" was a standout!
Mrs. Lori Baldwin, LHS theater director, presented the production with perfection and excellence. The sets, music, costumes and dancing were elaborated in Charles Dickens’ style. Mrs. Baldwin has brought professionalism to the stage and the performance proved just that. The actors were well rehearsed, the cues from stage crew were flawless and the lighting crew was precise.
Bravo for another great LHS performance and hats off to Mrs. Baldwin for a show well executed.

Nine-year-old asks kids

to appreciate bus drivers
To the editor:

I started riding the bus this year and was very nervous. Then I got to know my bus driver, Al, really well. He was nice to me and I was nice to him.
So, kids, get to know your bus driver and thank him or her for driving you to and from school. Be sure to remember Bus Driver Appreciation Day on Dec. 12. Really, thank your bus driver.
