Sidewalks built where no one walks
To the editor:
I would love to be able to personally thank every voter who voted for me in the recent election and to those who gave me advice and helped spread my ideas, I thank you also.
I volunteered to run for elected office to work hard and serve all the people of Manville. If I didn’t think I could actually win and do the job better than my opponents, I would not have entered the race.
My message was clear. My ideas for town changes were better than my opponents.
And as our property taxes escalate year after year, I am not too sure I will be financially capable of retiring in a town I grew up in and still love in the years ahead.
One of my campaign issues was for the town to finish the sidewalk around the high school block facing Bleecher Street.
It seems our town has money now to provide private residences on the north side with free sidewalks. Sidewalks where none existed for years and where no one walks regularly.
I suggest anyone who wants a free sidewalk to contact your democratically-elected officials as soon as possible.
And please take care as one drives down Bleecher Street, especially at night, as many people walk in the roadway.
