Rose R. Bender
BORDENTOWN Rose R. Bender, 93, died Saturday at home. Born in Centralia, Pa., she was a longtime area resident.
Ms. Bender worked for many years for Thermoid Company and retired from S&M Coat Factory in 1980. She loved bingo and playing the lottery. She also spent hours doing needlework and sharing her treasures with friends and family.
Daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Skotek Urban, wife of the late Frederick P. Bender to whom she had been married for 57 years, and sister of the late Mary Lischuk, Joseph, Casper and John Urban, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Mike Cseremsak; son and daughter-in-law Frederick P. and Mary Bender; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pauline D’Errico and Helen and George Mikulas; a brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Nora Urban; her grandchildren and their spouses, Michele and George Greener, Michael and Brenda Cseremsak, Lisa and Josh Kalm, and Kate Bender and Rick Bender; and her great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and her husband, Jared Banyard, Michael Panichella, Jacob Cseremsak, and Samuel and Joshua Kalm.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Saul Memorial Home, 1740 Greenwood Ave., Trenton. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Parish of Our Lady of the Angels-St. Joachim’s, Trenton. Interment followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton Township.

William C. Butch
WILLINGBORO William C. Butch, 77, died Friday at home.
Born in Allentown, Pa., he lived in Matawan for 16 years before starting his 21-year military career in the Air Force. He then lived in Hedding and Roebling before moving to Willingboro 16 years ago. He retired in 1979 as a supervisor of leases and concessions for the State DEP after 10 years service.
He was a member of the Yardville VFW Post 491, and a former member of Holy Assumption Church in Roebling and the Air Force Sergeants Club.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Estelow Butch; his children, Deborah (Steve) Clendinin of Hawaii, Debra (Joe) Bogdovics of Roebling, Kevin (Dawn) of Roebling and Robert (Beatrice) Butch of Burlington, and the late William C. Butch Jr.; siblings George Butch of Leighton, Pa., Oscar (Chris) Butch of Henderson, Nv., and Helen Volk of Bardenton, Fla.; grandchildren Jenise (Cary) Silinsky, Joseph (Mary) Bogdovics, Amy (Tyler) Gould, Brittany Wood and Kevin Wood Jr., Sara Butch, and Robert Butch Jr; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Dennison Funeral Home, 214 W. Front St., Florence, with a military chaplain officiating. Interment was in the Holy Assumption Cemetery, Roebling. Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Marlton, NJ 08053.
Lena Awdiok
FLORENCE Lena Awdiok (nee Virilli), 81, of Roebling, died Friday at Cooper Medical Center in Camden. Born in 1924 in Florence, she was a lifelong Florence/Roebling resident.
In her earlier years, Ms. Awdiok worked as a professional seamstress for the Burlington Dress Factory and later as a floor lady/supervisor for the Tex-Net Co. in Roebling. She then worked for the Florence Cleaners as a seamstress and tailor. Following retirement, she worked from home doing sewing for family and friends.
Ms. Awdiok was a member of St. Clare’s Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church; the Florence American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Unit 194; the Amici Della Lingua Italiana Society of Westampton, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
Daughter of the late Girolamo and Barbara Virilli, sister of the late John Virilli and Paul Virilli, and wife of the late Julian Awdiok, she is survived by twin Daughters, Anna Awdiok Skovran and her husband Fran of Mount Holly, and Donna Awdiok Toly and her husband Joe of Rock Springs, Wyo.; a son, Joseph Awdiok and his wife Deana Trowbridge of Maine, formerly of Florence; two sisters, Viola Foster of Burlington and Helen McCormick of Biloxi, Miss.; and six grandchildren, Ryann Skovran, Andrew Andiok, Kevin Toly, Jillian Skovran, Christopher Toly and Emily Awdiok.
The funeral was held Tuesday from the Dennison Funeral Home, 214 W. Front St., Florence. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Clare’s Church, 232 E. Front St., Florence, with the Rev. Felix F. Venza, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Florence.

Nicholas J. Belyung
MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP Nicholas J. Belyung, 82, died Nov. 27 at the Capital Health System Mercer Campus, Trenton.
Born in Trenton, Mr. Belyung lived most of his life in Trenton before moving to Columbus in 1984 after retiring.
He was a World War II veteran who served as staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, assigned with the 343rd Infantry, 86th division. He fought in the campaigns of France, Germany and Austria. Later, he was redeployed to the Pacific area and the Liberation of the Philippine Islands.
Mr. Belyung retired in 1988 after 24 years as a teacher. He taught science at Grice Middle School in Hamilton and previously at Trenton High School. Previously, he and his parents and then his brother owned, for over 35 years, Belyung Florist in Trenton. He was a member and past president of the Trenton Florist Association.
Son of the late Nicholas and Katherine Lenhardt Belyung, brother of the late Carl Belyung and father-in-law of the late Jeffrey Carleton, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor Palinsky Belyung; two daughters and one son-in-law, Lynn and Joseph Hudzina of Columbus and Donna M. Carleton of Bayville; his son Nicholas J. Belyung Jr. of Levittown, Pa.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Carleton, Christine Carleton, Julie Belyung and Nicholas J. Belyung III; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Barbara Schreirer and Susanna Lerette of Hamilton Township, Katherine and Casimo DePietto of New Port Richey, Fla. and Mary and Joseph Ratigan of Haverford, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Dec. 1 from the Winowicz Funeral Home, Adeline and Beatty streets, South Trenton. Funeral Liturgy was celebrated Dec. 1 in St. Anthony’s Church with Fr. John C. Garrett presiding. Burial was in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton Township.

James P. Musto
FLORENCE James P. Musto, 83, formerly of Lawrence, died Nov. 27 at Capital Health System at Fuld, Trenton. Born in Yatesville, Pa., he resided in the Lawrenceville for 56 years, and for the past five years in Florence.
Mr. Musto was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1975 after 30 years from DeLaval Turbine, Hamilton, where he was a machinist and served as shop steward.
Mr. Musto was a 4th Degree Knight of the Bishop Griffin Assembly, and served as past treasurer and member of the Knights of Columbus, Lawrence Council 7000. He was a member of the Church of Saint Ann, and the American Legion Post 414, both of Lawrenceville. He was captain of the Top Road Tavern Bocce team, co-captain of the Knights of Columbus Bocce team, and was a former member of Saint James Church, North Trenton, for over 50 years. His favorite past times included spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed his annual trips to Villa Roma, N.Y., weekly shopping trips to Shop-Rite with his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Petersack, and his daily breakfast with his nephew, Joe Varra.
Son of the late Patrick and Caroline "Arleen" DeLuca Musto, husband of the late Isabel C. Varra Musto, and brother of the late Charles and Anthony Musto, and Jenny Pasquarello, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick J. and Toni Musto of Lawrenceville; a daughter, Carol Ann Mancuso and her fiance Ed Putnick of Florence, with whom he resided; a brother, Frank Musto of Pittston, Pa.; three grandchildren, Vincent Mancuso Jr., and Patrick and Tricia Musto; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dominick and Pati Varra of Ewing Township, Mary Ann and John Petersack of Yardville and Marie Varra of Hamilton Township; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and his faithful companion, Ranger.
The funeral was held Dec. 1 at the Brenna Funeral Home, 340 Hamilton Ave., Trenton. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Church of Saint Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Entombment with military honors followed in the Greenwood Cemetery Veteran Mausoleum, Hamilton Township.
Marsha Bond- Bergeron
FLORENCE Marsha Bond-Bergeron, 57, of Florence, died Nov. 26 at Lourdes Hospital in Willingboro.
Born and raised in Long Beach, Calif., she lived there most of her life, and then in Kingston and Robbinsville before moving to Florence 18 years ago.
Ms. Bond-Bergeron was employed as a deli clerk at the Bordentown ShopRite store for the last eight years and had previously been employed as a deli clerk and cashier at the Florence Wawa store on Broad Street. She loved reading, gardening, and being the family caregiver.
She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Bergeron; three sons, Brian Bond of Calif., Jason Bond of New Brunswick and Richard V. Bond of Florence; her mother, Agnes Bond of Florence; a brother and sister, John and Karen Bond, both of Calif.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday at the Dennison Funeral Home, 212 W. Front St., Florence. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
Ruth M. Dawson
FLORENCE Ruth M. Dawson, 77, died Nov. 25 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. Born and raised in Burlington, she lived in Florence for the past 40 years.
She retired 15 years ago as a telephone operator for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Co. in Burlington after 40 years. She was a member of the Providence Presbyterian Church in Florence and of the Telephone Pioneers Club. She loved animals, nature, gardening, cooking and socializing.
Wife of the late Virgil H. Dawson, she is survived by a sister, Betty Garwood of Burlington Township; and nine nieces and nephews.
A graveside committal service was held Friday at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Burlington, with interment following.

Steven Ducsai
ROEBLING Steven Ducsai, 91, of Roebling, died Nov. 23 at Marcella Center, Burlington Township. Mr. Ducsai was born in Roebling and was a lifelong resident.
He was a retired wire mill quality controller, employed by John A. Roebling & Sons, both at the Roebling and Trenton steel mills with 37 years of service. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II and was a member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church. He was also an animal lover and enjoyed feeding the birds and cats around his house.
Son of the late John and Rose Ducsai, husband of the late Julia Hines Ducsai, and father of the late Stephen J. Ducsai, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Harrison Rockhill of Roebling; daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and John F. Repa of Browns Mills; son John D. Ducsai of Roebling; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at Holy Assumption Catholic Church of Roebling, with the Rev. Albert Riciardelli officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Geraldine R. Buonanno
BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP Geraldine R. Buonanno (nee Capritti), 93, of Florence, died Nov. 18 at Marcella Nursing and Rehab Center in Burlington Township.
Born in Italy, Ms. Buonanno lived in Florence most of her life and in Florida For 20 years before returning to the area six years ago. She was a retired presser for the former Burlington Dress Factory where she worked for 30 years. She was a member of St. Clare’s Church in Florence and a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
Wife of the late Angelo Buonanno and sister of the late Ida Semptimphelter, William Capritti, Silvio Capritti, Yolnda Bogue and Mario Capritti, she is survived by two brothers, Samuel Capritti and Peter Capritti, and two sisters-in-law, Emily Capritti and Helen Capritti, all of Florence; and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 27 at St. Clare’s Church, 232 E. Front St., Florence, with the Rev. Felix F. Venza, pastor, officiating.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Florence. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Clare’s Church Improvement Fund at the above address.

Arsen Olen
YARDVILLE – Arsen Olen, 84, died Friday at home.
Mr. Olen was born in Ukraine, the son of the late Michael and Katherine Hrizenko Olenchenko. He had resided in Yardville since 1966, and was formerly of Germany and Trenton.
Mr. Olen was a retired machinist, employed by De Laval Corporation Pump Division, Trenton, with 13 years of service.
He was a member of St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Yardville where he was a trustee, Auditing Committee member and sang in the church Choir. He is survived by his wife Paula Saboth Olen; daughter and son-in-law, Lydia and Ulrich Haller of Chesterfield; sister Maria Panasenko of Ukraine; niece Tanya Kapustan of Ukraine and several nieces and nephews in the United States.
A funeral was held Tuesday at St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 839 Yardville Allentown Road, Yardville with the Rev. Petro Levko officiating.
Panahida service was Monday.
Interment was in Morrisville Cemetery, Morrisville, Pa.

Barbara A. Armitage
HAMILTON Barbara A. Armitage, 76, died Nov. 27 in Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg.
Born in Leesburg, Va., Mrs. Armitage was a resident of Hamilton for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Predeceased by her mother, Margaret Vecchiolla, her children, Barry, Bruce and Donna Armitage, and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Armitage, she is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harry Armitage; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Debra Armitage of Bordentown; her grandchildren, Bruce and Kathy Armitage, Alicia and Mark Palumbo, Thomas and Erica Armitage, Jacqueline and Tom McCormick, Maria and Douglas Hollo, and Donna and Steve Eldridge; several great-grandchildren; and a former daughter-in-law and her husband, Bobbie and Tom Kelley.
The funeral service was held 9 a.m. Saturday at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square.
Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
Mary C. Lugo
HAMILTON Mary "Sis" C. Lugo, 65, died Nov. 27 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton.
Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident. She retired after 22 years of service from General Motors Inland Fisher Guide in Ewing.
Daughter of the late Alvin and Mary Shea, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Donna Lugo of Hamilton; two daughters and a son-in-law, JoAnn and John Penic of Hamilton, and Karen Stango of Toms River; a sister, Joyce Bush of Bordentown Township; three grandchildren, Zachary Lugo, Matthew Lugo and Nicholas Stango; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Dec. 1 from the Buklad Yardville Memorial Chapel, 30 Yardville Allentown Road in Yardville, with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Gregory the Great Church in Hamilton Square.
Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hamilton.

Katherine G. Witkowski
EWING TOWNSHIP – Katherine G. Witkowski, 80, died Nov. 27 at home.
Born in Neptune, she resided in Trenton most of her life.
She was a member of First Church of Nazarene for 67 years, having received the Distinguished Service Award. She was an avid reader and enjoyed puzzles.
Daughter of the late Douglas and Katherine (Berlew) Van De Water, sister of the late Richard Van De Water, and wife of the late Edmund "Eddie the Pipe" Witkowski, she is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Donna and Dennis Schneider of N.M., Kathy and Donald Bakos of Millville, Deborah Witkowski of Trenton, and Nancy and Carl Campi of Southampton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Corrine Latoof, and Janet and Carl Klotz Jr. all of Bordentown; a sister-in-law, Ruth Caulston of Norristown, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Lisa and her husband Patrick McCurdy, Lori and her husband Richard Mullen, Jennifer and her husband Dennis Tamagni, Jeannie and her husband Frank Sconzo, Jaime and her husband Giuseppe Gaetano, Carl III, Samantha, and Angela Campi; nine great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Daniel, and Kathryn McCurdy, Matthew and Peter Sconzo, Hannah and Haley Tamagni, and Baby Girl Gaetano to be; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Dec. 1 at Chambers, D’Errico & Correnti Funeral Home, 825 Chambers St., Trenton, with the Rev. Wesley Tink of First Church of Nazarene of Pennington officiating.
Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Trenton.
Halyna and Nick Shevchuk
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP Halyna and Nick Shevchuk of Hamilton Township died Nov. 26. Halyna was 69 and Nick was 75. They were married for 52 years.
They were both born in Ukraine and moved to the United States 50 years ago, residing in Hamilton Township for 45 years. They were founding members of the First Ukrainian Baptist Church of Levittown. They always found time to help others.
Mrs. Shevchik practiced her strong faith and enjoyed baking. Mr. Shevchik was a deacon at the church and enjoyed fishing.
They are survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Kathleen Shevchuk of Manlius, N.Y.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Elena and Michael D’Anna of Hannibal, N.Y. and Natalie Shevchuk of East Windsor; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Shevchik was the daughter of the late Priska Kurchenko Dereka and is also survived by her father Igor Dereka of Trenton, and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mykola and Olga Dereka of Columbus and Wasyl and Alexis Dereka of Hamilton Township.
Mr. Shevchik was the son of the late Ivan and Anna Romanchuk Shevchuk and is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna and Clifford Robbins of East Windsor and Alena and Richard Mount of Hamilton Township, and a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Karen Shevchuk of Ringoes.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the First Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Church of Levittown, 3001 Levittown Parkway, Levittown, Pa., with Avdiy Chripczuk officiating
Interment was in Morrisville Cemetery, Morrisville, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Orphan and Widow Fund of First Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Church.
