Interested in learning salsa? How about experimenting with tapestry weaving?
Those are just some of the new classes being offered this winter at the Arts Council of Princeton now open for registration.
From pastels to pottery, the Arts Council attempts to cover the entire artistic spectrum while continuing to offer as much variety as possible to the community. With 40 classes in total, Arts Council Program and Public Relations Coordinator Michael LaRiccia said, the Arts Council has added several programs for both children and adults.
"We try to change classes to try to fill a need in the community that we feel people will be interested in," Mr. LaRiccia said. "We like to try new things."
For adults, new classes include "Pastel Painting," "Watercolor: Limited Palette/Endless Possibilities," "Printing on Textile," "Art Sampler," "Mixed Media," "Tapestry Weaving," "Portrait Photography" and "Salsa Dancing."
For children, new classes include "Throwing for Teens (Ceramics)," "Perceptual Skills in Drawing Realistically II: An Advanced Workshop" and "Drawing and Painting."
Many of the Arts Council’s classes allow students to explore a variety of media at numerous levels. Although there is no deadline to register, Mr. LaRiccia said signing up early is encouraged because classes fill quickly.
Classes are weekly and run for either eight or 10 weeks. The semester runs from the week of Jan. 8 through the week of March 26.
Most of the classes are conducted at the conTEMPORARY Arts Center in the Princeton Shopping Center. Ceramics classes are held at the conTEMPORARY Ceramics Studio in the Princeton Business Park in Rocky Hill.
Classes range in price from $85 to $300 and discounts are available for members of the Arts Council.
