Princeton University alumnus and former spokesman for the 9-11 Commission Alvin S. Felzenberg is visiting the Princeton Public Library on Thursday to discuss his recent biography detailing the life of former Gov. Thomas Kean.
"Governor Tom Kean: From the New Jersey Statehouse to the 9-11 Commission," published in June, follows the former governor for three decades, from his tenure in the state Legislature to his role in the bipartisan 9-11 Commission.
As the principal spokesman for the commission, which was co-chaired by former Gov. Kean, Mr. Felzenberg helped manage the release of a detailed report in 2004 that investigated the events of Sept. 11, 2001. He subsequently served as spokesman for the nonprofit organization, the 9-11 Public Discourse Project.
Mr. Felzenberg has since served as a fellow at the Institute of Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and also was a visiting professor of politics at Princeton University during the fall, where he earned his doctorate in politics.
Having served in two presidential administrations, Mr. Felzenberg has occupied numerous senior posts on Capitol Hill. Closer to home, he was the assistant secretary of state in New Jersey during the 1980s.
Mr. Felzenberg has also written pieces for The Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, Boston Globe, Weekly Standard, Christian Science Monitor, among others. He has also appeared on CNN, Fox News, C-SPAN and National Public Radio.
Mr. Felzenberg will be speaking in the library at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
