Number of DWIs is ‘appalling’
To the editor:
Is anyone else in town shocked and appalled at the number of DWI notices there are each week in the police blotter of the Beacon?
Every week, we see people of all ages, young and old (or old enough to certainly know better).
This past week’s paper showed seven DWI’s. Luckily most of these appear to be after midnight when I hope most of us are safely asleep in our beds. But we all know that it is just pure luck that one day will change.
I cannot fathom how full grown adults still find this an acceptable way of life. How dare you get behind the wheel of a one ton bullet and aim it at the rest of us?
I am thankful that our police force is diligent in their efforts to keep us safe, but the ultimate burden is on us. We all need to be looking out for these idiots, and use our cell phones to report them.
Let’s all hope and pray that common sense will prevail before someone drinks and dares to get behind the wheel, and all of us will live to see the new year.

‘Guardian angel’ saved life twice
To the editor:
My Guardian Angel Ann Lambert, PAC of Family Care, 257 Route 22 East, Green Brook, has saved my life not once but twice.
I was misdiagnosed at another facility, when I went to Ann Lambert, she picked up on the brain aneurysm and acted immediately. Without Ann, I probably would not be here.
The size of the tumor was extremely large and the surgeon I was assigned, said I was lucky to be alive because it was at the state where it could have burst at any time.
Ann’s bedside manner, professionalism, and being available, no matter how busy she may be, even if it is just a shoulder to cry on.
Yes, I believe Ann is my guardian angel, not only for myself, but for my family.

Response doesn’t address points
To the editor:
I wanted to respond to Ms. Parker’s unexpected letter in which she says my allegations against the teachers union are untrue ("Letter’s allegations just not true," Dec. 7 Hillsborough Beacon).
First, let me say that I just have to chuckle because every time the Hillsborough Education Association president seems to respond to a disgruntled citizen the letter always starts out with "The allegations aren’t true!" Come on get original.
Let me respond point by point as she did.
First, she claims she has no knowledge of the meeting I had with her people. My response: The fact that she has no idea what her own top people are doing behind her back clearly shows the level of cover-up the brass in the union will go to just to maintain that false purity image with the public.
A member of Concerned Citizens for a Better Hillsborough told me they’ve acted like this with other disgruntled parents so her denial letter is no big surprise to many readers.
My second point: Ms. Parker claims no one has ever been out there with literature or the bullhorn asking for money. My response: She has selective memory.
Oh sure, they didn’t need a bullhorn or a lot of shouting this time but her people were definitely out there with the literature quietly telling people how great they were because money buys education. Ms. Parker never denied that debunked belief. Ms. Parker also avoided talking about those explosive episodes of previous years when they were out chanting and shouting. People don’t forget.
My third point: Ms. Parker spent a good deal of her letter talking about all the cute little charities and events they were involved in.
Unfortunately, for all that babbling she never disproved my main allegation: They caused the property tax crisis. As I stated in my first letter it is irrelevant whether they believe they deserve all that compensation or not. They caused the property tax crisis and I’m not the only who thinks that.
On Dec. 8, a PTO group from a mid New Jersey school district, apparently fed up with brass like Ms. Parker, announced the formation of the first anti-teacher union rally. If successfully organized it will be of historical significance as it will be the first time people will be protesting against a union in the state of New Jersey.
Watch the news over the next couple of months for details on "Step Away From Our Property Taxes" rally and have no sympathy for the teachers union.

Students need lab to be more productive
To the editor:
The students of Hillsborough Elementary School need a computer lab.
First, I think our school needs a computer lab because we could get more work done. Another reason is because everyone would have a chance to get on a computer.
Most importantly, we need a lab so Ms. Zommorodian, our computer teacher, could have her own space to teach. I believe we need a computer lab because it will help us learn more.

Other schools have computer labs
To the editor:
Hillsborough Elementary School should have a computer lab because other schools have computer labs and Hillsborough Elementary does not have a computer lab.
Another reason why Hillsborough Elementary needs a computer lab is because there will be less tripping because extension cords are all around the room so people don’t get hurt as much. We have these cords as there are lap tops everywhere in the classroom
The last reason why Hillsborough Elementary needs a computer lab is because it’s hard on Mrs. Z, our computer teacher. She would not have a cramp as much it she did not have to push a cart full of computers to every classroom.
I feel bad that it is not fair that other schools have computer lab. I also feel bad for Mrs. Z because she has to push a cart with computers and extension cords through the school each day.

Lab could help students succeed
To the editor:
Hillsborough Elementary School should have our own computer lab because more children would know how to use computers. If all children know how to use computers we would get smarter and maybe get rich in the future.
Additionally, we can do projects as a class on computers. If we can do projects as a class with them we could share and not interrupt others which is more polite.
Most importantly, Mrs. Z will stay in one room and fix computers in the computer lab because she will not get tired from walking around with that heavy car all day. Children can come to one room to do computers and we can always come to see Mrs. Z.
In conclusion, Hillsborough Elementary School should have their own computer lab because more children would know how to use the computers, we can do class projects and Mrs. Z would have her own room.

Lab could make HES ‘smartest school’
To the editor:
Hillsborough Elementary School should have our own computer lab.
One reason everyone should have a computer lab in our school is because children can do their computer homework on the computer and will have less homework. This will give children more time to read and if we read more books then we would be the smartest school
Another reason we really need a computer lab is because if someone has a computer problem it would not take a lot of time to find the computer teacher because she will be in the computer lab
Most importantly, Hillsborough Elementary School should have their own computer lab because the whole class would be able to work at the same time. It would waste time for four people to work at the same time instead of the whole class.
Finally, I really think that we should have our own computer lab because children can do their homework and read, we can find Mrs. Z, and everyone would be working at the same time to get more work done.

Lab could help students with homework
To the editor:
Hillsborough Elementary School needs a computer lab.
The first reason we need a computer lab is because it is a waste of time having to sit and wait for the laptops to come on.
Also, that cuts into the time we could be learning about computers.
Next, if the computer cart is so big that it barely fits in the classroom. If we had a lab, no one would be cramped.
Last, if we got a computer lab, we could get more work done and not have to do it for homework.
I feel that a computer lab would be great for Hillsborough Elementary School.
