Mary J. Frew

   GROVEVILLE — Mary J. Frew, 81, died Dec. 5.
   Born in Pittston, Pa., she lived most of her life in the Groveville area.
   Mrs. Frew retired after many years of service with Penn Fruit located on Route 33 in Hamilton. She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church.
   Daughter of the late Charles and Josephine Bellavia Dellaria, and sister of the late Louis, Charles, Kye, Antoinette and Carmella, she is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Beth and Don Gottel of Florence, Cathy and David Dulo of Columbus, and Jo Marie and Rich Perry of Columbus; a brother, Angelo Dellario of Pittston, Pa.; two sisters, Amelia Nitzberg of Trenton and Venerina Sandora formerly of the White Horse section of Hamilton; nine grandchildren, Marc and his wife Melissa, Neal and his wife Carolyn, Elizabeth, Shaun, Martin, Joseph, Brian, David, and Sara; and several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
   The funeral was held Dec. 8 from the Buklad Yardville Memorial Chapel, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road in Yardville.
   Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Vincent DePaul Church, 555 Yardville-Allentown Road in Yardville.
   Burial followed in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.

Brett Scott Johnson

   COLUMBUS — Baby Brett Scott Johnson, age four days, died Dec. 5 at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pa.
   He is survived by his parents Craig and Lynn (Nicholl) Johnson of Columbus; and sister Taylor Ann Johnson of Columbus. He was the maternal grandson of Gary and Pat Nicholl of Columbus; paternal grandson of Karl and Kim Johnson of Wilmington, Dele.; great-grandson of Olive Bateman of Brookhaven, Pa. and Peg Johnson of Boothwyn, Pa.; and is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
   The funeral service was held Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown.
   Interment was private at Bordentown Cemetery.
   Donations in his honor may be made to the American Heart Association.

Robert M. Wainwright

   COLUMBUS — Robert M. Wainwright, 79, of the Homestead section of Columbus, died Dec. 2 at home.
   Born in Florence Township, he was a lifelong area resident.
   Mr. Wainwright was a retired farmer and did farming on the Wainwright family farm all of his working life. He was a member of the Hedding United Methodist Church, and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. He loved collecting model trains and National Geographic magazines, anything to do with cars, and attending flea markets.
   Son of the late Fred Sr. and Wilhelmina Hertzman Wainwright, and brother of the late Louise Mingin and Wilhelmina Sahol, he is survived by a sister and two brothers-in-law, Mildred and Donald Bassett of Columbus and Andrew Sahol of Florence; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred P. Wainwright Jr. and Jean, Theodore D. Wainwright and Lillian, and Marvin L. Wainwright and Eileen, all of Florence Township; a special friend, Betty Pienkowski of Cream Ridge; many nieces and nephews and their families; and many cousins and good friends.
   Funeral services were held Dec. 8 at the Dennison Funeral Home, 214 W. Front St., Florence. Co-officiating will be the Rev. W. Garey Hope and the Rev. Ronald Sager.
   Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Florence.

Verna Mae Holmes

   BURLINGTON — Verna Mae Holmes, 89, a resident of Burlington for the past 65 years, died Dec. 1 at home after a short illness.
   Mrs. Holmes was employed by the City of Burlington School System for 28 years as a cafeteria aide and retired in June 1999. She was a member of Christ Baptist Church for 65 years and was named one of the first Mothers of the Church earlier this year. She was a member of the Pastor’s Aide and the Missionary Society and served several terms as president for both organizations. In 1974 she was honored by the Rancocas Valley Chapter of Links Inc. as one of the Mothers of the Year, and in 2004, the Oliver Cromwell Society of Burlington, bestowed the Living Legend Award upon her.
   She is survived by three children, William "Bubbles" Holmes of Burlington, Maureen Olivia Baxter of Burlington Township, and Darlene Juanita Sones of Bordentown; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Percelle Holmes of Bear, Del.; one sister, Geneva Pollard of King and Queen County, Va.; four sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
   Funeral services were held Saturday at Christ Baptist Church (Second Baptist Church), Jacksonville Road and the Rev. F. C. Johnson Way, Burlington, with the Rev. Frederick C. Johnson officiating.
   Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington.

William F. Emmons

   BORDENTOWN — William F. Emmons, 93, died Dec. 3 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
   He was born in Marlboro and had resided in Bordentown much of his life.
   He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and had retired from TRW Inc. (Crescent Wire) where he was a maintenance foreman. He was a member of the Chesterfield Baptist Church, American Legion Post 26 and was a member and an exempt fireman with the Englishtown Fire Co. He was also a licensed amateur radio operator of station K2UTR.
   Mr. Emmons is survived by his wife, Margaret M. Welsh Emmons; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Anna Emmons of North Hanover and William and Barbara Emmons of Plumstead Township; three granddaughters, Deanna Lee, and Laura and Nicole; and several nieces and nephews.
   The funeral was held Dec. 7 from the Chesterfield Baptist Church, 209 Matthews Lane, Chesterfield.
   Memorial contributions may be made to the Chesterfield Baptist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Charles Dominick Lamberti

   BORDENTOWN — Charles Dominick Lamberti (Butch), 78, died Dec. 1 at the VA Hospital in Wilmington, Del.
   Born in Bordentown, he was a lifelong resident before moving to Florida in 2001.
   Mr. Lamberti enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He served as a rifleman and participated in the Occupation of China. He was honorably discharged with the rank of private first class.
   After the war, he returned home to work at his father’s auto parts service station, Nick Lamberti and Son, located on Farnsworth Avenue in Bordentown City. He sold the business in the early 1960s and started selling cars for numerous dealerships in the tri-state area. He retired in 2001 before moving to Florida.
   He was an avid sportsman who loved traveling, fishing and spending time on his boat. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church of Bordentown and a Charter Member of the Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085.
   Son of the late Nicholas and Brenda Lamberti, he was predeceased by his wife Irene Lamberti, and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas C. and Kathleen Lamberti of New Egypt; his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth (Betty) and Val Hoenisch of Yardville; two grandchildren, Eric Hoenisch and Nicole M. Lamberti; and his loving companion, Dorothy Sitaras.
   A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 7 at St. Mary’s Church located on 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown with the Rev. Michael J. Burns officiating.
   Elks services were held at the Bordentown Home for Funerals, 40 Crosswicks St., Bordentown.
   Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bordentown.

Robert C. Bastedo

   EAST WINDSOR – Robert C. Bastedo, 76, died Monday at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
   Mr. Bastedo was born and educated in the Hightstown-East Windsor area where he resided his entire 76 years.
   He was a soccer and baseball star at Hightstown High School until he left school early to work to support his family. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran from November 1950 until his honorable discharge in September 1954. While in the Air Force, Mr. Bastedo earned the National Defense Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and an occupation Medal-Germany.
   He worked for Mettler Instruments Inc. in East Windsor for over 30 years as a service technician. He loved coaching baseball and was one of the first coaches to begin the local little league in the late ’60s which became to be known as the H.E.W.Y.B.L. He coached in the little, major and Babe Ruth leagues for 11 years.
   Mr. Bastedo had a great appreciation for the outdoors and nature and was a past avid hunter and fisherman. He loved watching the New York Yankees and New York Giants.
   Son of the late Caroline and Samuel Bastedo, he was predeceased by his only sibling, Barbara Mahler, and brother-in-law, Jacob Mahler. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Bastedo; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert C. Jr. and Debra Bastedo of Chesterfield, William P. Bastedo of East Windsor, and Christine Bastedo of West Windsor; four grandchildren, William, Sara, Kaitlyn and Michael Bastedo; and a niece, Lonni of East Brunswick.
   A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the A.S. Cole Funeral Home, 22 North Main St., Cranbury.    Interment will follow in Brainerd Cemetery, Cranbury.
   Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Evelyn E. Gallagher

   FLORENCE — Evelyn E. Gallagher, (nee Hatalovsky), 73, died Dec. 8.
   She was born and raised in Roebling and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Barbara Hatalovsky.
   Mrs. Gallagher was involved in many activities. She was Holy Assumption School PTA president. She chaired many school events such as the Fashion Show, Hall improvements and initiated and chaired the first carnival. She was the Burlington County Regent for the Trenton Diocesan PTA and Trenton Diocese PTA president. Mrs. Gallagher also served as St. Clare’s Catholic Church Altar Rosary Society president, president of the Florence Township School Board, Advisory board member for the Bank of Mid Jersey and was one of the creators of the Community Awareness Center for drug and chemical dependency in Florence.
   She is survived by her husband, R. Louis Gallagher; son R. Louis Gallagher II and his wife Karen, of Florence; son Rev. John Patrick Gallagher, cssr, Big Sur, Calif.; three grandchildren, R. Louis Gallagher III, Laura Colleen Gallagher and Ryan Patrick Gallagher, all of Florence; sister, Mary Chiarello and husband the late James of Florence; brother Michael Hatalovsky and wife Tillie of Fla.; brother John Hatalovsky and wife Frances of Roebling; sister Anna Bodrog and husband Andrew of Roebling; sister Dorothy Patriarca and husband the late Raymond of Florence; sister Helen Kuklis and husband the late Bernie of Reading Pa.; sister Margaret Conrey and husband Edward of Roebling; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
   The funeral was held Wednesday from Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Ave., Roebling.
   Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Clare’s Catholic Church, 232 E. Front St., Florence, with the Rev. John Patrick Gallagher, cssr, officiating.
   Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Florence.
Robert I. Confoy

   PERU, N.Y. — Robert I. Confoy, 74, died Dec. 7 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y.
   Mr. Confoy was born in Trenton in 1932, the son of William and Margaret (Furlong) Confoy. Before moving to Plattsburgh, Mr. Confoy lived in Ewing for 27 years.
   He was a graduate of Trenton Catholic Boys High School, and attended Rider College in Lawrence. He was a U.S. Army veteran from 1952 to his honorable discharge in 1954. He was employed as retail store manager at the Army Air Force Exchange Service for 26 years prior to retiring in 1989. He also served as zoning officer for the town of Peru for several years.
   He was a lifetime member of the Peru VFW Post 309 and was a Past Commander, Quarter Master, and Senior Vice. He was a former member of the Peru Lions Club and the West Plattsburgh American Legion. He was active in many church and youth organizations in the area.
   He was predeceased by his parents, son, Patrick Confoy, and brother William Confoy Jr. and is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathleen M. Confoy; daughter Meagan Confoy of Peru, N.Y.; and grandson Conner Witt; Casey Confoy of Jacobstown, Karen Confoy DeStefano of Jacobstown, Kevin Confoy of Bronxville, N.Y., and Craig Confoy of Trenton; three daughters-in law; one son-in-law; and seven grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Ungrady of Marietta, Ga. and Sr. Margaret Annina, SRS, of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; one brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Heather Confoy of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
   Calling hours were held Dec. 11 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru with the Rev. Alan D. Shnob, pastor, officiating.
   Burial with full military honors followed in the parish cemetery.

Marjorie Davis Brown

   WILLINGBORO — Marjorie Davis Brown, 81, died Dec. 6 at Capital Health System at Mercer in Trenton.
   Daughter of the late Roosevelt and Carrie Davis, she was born Aug. 28, 1925 in Trenton. She was raised in New York and spent each summer in Trenton. While growing up in New York, she was the friend and next door neighbor to the late Billie Holiday.
   Mrs. Brown worked as an usher at the historic Apollo Theatre in Harlem in her youth. She was a graduate of PS159 High School in New York City. After the death of her father, the family relocated to Yardley, Pa. and later settled in Trenton.
   In 1945 she married Willie Frank Brown Sr. who preceded her in death. She joined the Shiloh Baptist Church, Trenton and was baptized by the late Rev. Dr. S. Howard Woodson Jr. In 1954 she joined the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, Trenton, under the leadership of the late Rev. J.B. Singleton. She was church clerk for over 40 years, was the Adult 1 Sunday School teacher for over 50 years and continued to serve on the Deaconess Board and the Gospel Choir under the leadership of Rev. Dr. T. Llewellyn Steele, pastor of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Brown worked for 10 years at the Yardville National Bank in Trenton prior to becoming disabled in 1986.
   In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Marvin Charles Brown. She is survived by four children and their spouses, W. Frank Brown and wife Ann of Rochester, N.Y., Prudence Hope Wade and husband, Rev. Dr. Robert C. Wade of Florence, Rowena Robin Brown with whom she resided in Willingboro, and Travis Mark Brown of Plainsboro; one sister, Mamie D. Jacobs of San Diego, Calif.; three grandsons, W. Frank Brown of Trenton, Eric Dwayne Brown of Texas and Troy Brown of Trenton; extended family to whom she was like a mother, Donald Roy Rubel of East Windsor and Sylvia (Sibbia) Brown of Trenton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
   Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 150 N. Clinton Ave., Trenton.
   Calling hours will be 6-9 p.m. Friday at the church and also from 8 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
   Entombment will be in Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Hamilton Township.
   Arrangements are by Anderson Funeral Service, Trenton.
Louis Hammell

   DAYTONA, FLA. — Louis Hammell, 67, died Dec. 6 at Halifax Hospital in Daytona, Fla.
   Born in Trenton, Mr. Hammell resided in Hamilton Square until he and his wife Marilyn moved to Edgewater, Fla. eight years ago.
   He retired 10 years ago from the chemical field and was a school bus driver for two years before moving to Fla., where he enjoyed fishing, traveling, and nature.
   He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marilyn LaBau Hammell; his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Deidre Hammell of Columbus; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and John Giberson of Jacobstown; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Steve Durelli of Jacobstown; and daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Raymond Andrusiewicz; and nine grandchildren.
   Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Friday at St. Gregory the Great Church in Hamilton Square.
   Mass will be held at 11 a.m. and burial to follow.

Nora Louise Fetterman

   TRENTON — Nora Louise Fetterman, 60, died Dec. 5 at home.
   Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong Trenton resident.
   Ms. Fetterman was formerly employed at the McCoy’s Department Store in Trenton as a sales clerk. She was active with STARS in Trenton and assisted as a volunteer at the Trent Center West.
   Daughter of the late Joseph and Louise Agnes Kurutz Fetterman, she is survived by her sister Linda Fetterman of Hamilton; a cousin, Irene Doborn of Bordentown; and a close friend, Nancy Pollack of Hamilton.
   Funeral services were under the direction of the Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Ave., Hamilton.
