Edith (Anderson) Elzer, 86, of Monroe died Tuesday, Dec. 5, at home.
Born in Staten Island, N.Y., she lived in Staten Island and Plainfield before moving to Rossmoor in 1986. Up until 1998, she was a winter resident of Largo, Fla. She was a member of the Community Church, the Women’s Guild, and the 9 Hole Club, all of Rossmoor. She was a former member of Immanuel Union Church and the Richmond County Country Club, both in Staten Island and the Plainfield Country Club.
Her husband of 56 years, Edwin, died in 1998. Her parents, Sadie and Oscar Anderson; her sister, Alice Socci; and her son-in-law, Thomas Richards, also are deceased. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Richards of Fords; her son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Sandy Elzer of Holmdel; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Eugene Pugliese of Spring Lake; her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Barbara Elzer of San Francisco.; son, James Elzer of New Brunswick, Ga.; her sister, Evelyn Stordhal of Arizona; her niece, Joan Raisley of Staten Island, N.Y.; her six grandchildren, Nanci Richards, Timothy Richards, Erik Richards and his wife, Shannon, Adam and Greg Elzer and Amy Bradford Pujols and her husband, Mayo; and four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kimberly, Alex and Jason.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. at Rossmoor Community Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay St., Perth Amboy. Donations to the Princeton Hospice, 208 Bunn Drive, Princeton, N.J. 08540, would be appreciated.
