The elections may have been two months ago, but with 2006 quickly fading and 2007 right around the corner, all of the township’s within the Register News’ coverage area will be holding their annual reorganization meetings.
Countywide, a little more than half of registered voters turned out during the November 2006 election, with 129,461 or 52 percent of the county’s 247,266 voters participating, according to the county’s Web site.
In every township except for one, the party control remained the same, with the majority of the townships having incumbents Republicans continuing control of their seats.
Regardless of party majority, fresh faces and returning ones will gather during the first weeks of 2007 to start off the year by being sworn in, and getting down to their respective township’s duties.
Bordentown Township will be having its reorganization meeting Jan. 6 at noon at the Municipal Building. Republicans Mark Roselli and George Chidley are being sworn in.
Bordentown City’s reorganization meeting is Jan. 8 at the Municipal Building. Mayor Collom said that although the city isn’t in an election year, the ceremony will mostly consist of appointing professionals, such as the city engineer, the city solicitor, and the city attorney.
Chesterfield will swear in incumbent Republican Michael Hlubik during its ceremony Jan. 2 at 10 a.m. in the Municipal Building.
In Fieldsboro, the reorganization meeting takes place during one of the regular Township Council gatherings, scheduled for Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Building, at 204 Washington St. Democratic incumbents Timothy Tyler and Steven Kasafis will be sworn in. Also, Audrey Weinhoffer who won the November election by write-in, will be sworn in during the ceremony.
Even though Florence did not have any local elections this year, its reorganization meeting is set to take place Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Building.
In Mansfield, Republican incumbents LaVerne Cholewa and Robert Higgins will be participating in the swearing in reorganization ceremony that is set to take place Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Building.
New Hanover will swear in Republicans Rick Koshak and Dorothy Murphy on Jan. 1 at 1 p.m. at the Municipal Building.
In North Hanover, incumbent Republicans William Tilton and Michael Moscatiello will be sworn in to their committee seats. The reorganization ceremony is scheduled for noon Jan. 1 at the Municipal Building.
Springfield will hold its reorganization ceremony on at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, during the regular Township Council meeting at the Municipal Building. Republican incumbents Denis McDaniel, Peter Sobotka and Richard Toone will be sworn in.
