Caiafa wins the 100 fly

The Northern Burlington County Regional High coed varsity swim team had few answers for a very good Cinnaminson team in Friday’s meet at Burlington County College.
So in spite of a big win by NBC’s senior star Melissa Caiafa in the 100-yard butterfly, the Pirates beat the Greyhounds, 102-68. Caiafa’s winning time in the race was 1:04.80. But Caiafa also did very well in the 200-yard IM where she placed third overall with a 2:31.12 time. Northern’s Richard Haff was the runner-up in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.96. But Haff’s best performance of the day came in the 500-yard freestyle, which he won with a fine 5:39.24 time.
Chris Tomori placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:24.38 while his NBC teammate Brianne Flynn placed third in the same race with a time of 2:32.22.
Placing second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:13.13 was Northern’s Patricia Duarte. NBC’s Justin Mills was the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle race with a time of 25.11 seconds and he took third in the 100-yard butterfly with a 1:10.97 time. In the 100-yard breaststroke, the Greyhounds’ Matt McGillen placed third overall with a 1:22.19 mark.
Meanwhile Northern’s Ian King was a third place finisher in the 500-yard freestyle event with a 7:09.88 time.
NBC is off until January 6th when it is set to come back from the Holiday break and take on Delran.
