Make a New Year’s resolution to put the First Friday on your monthly calendar.
On each First Friday, the Gourgaud Gallery opens its doors with a new exhibition by a guest artist. Refreshments and an opportunity to meet the artist make for a relaxing evening.
In January, the Gourgaud will feature the photography of Andrea Castro in an exhibition entitled "Someplace Else."
The First Friday reception will take place on Jan. 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the gallery, which is located in Town Hall.
Here’s an item that looks ahead to the warmer days of spring.
For the past 18 years there have been annual Evans Tract garage sales, which usually take place in April. Over those years, eight different coordinators or co-coordinators have run the event.
The 2007 sale date to be announced is in need of a coordinator. The job involves advertising the sale in local papers, putting up signs on sale day and collecting advertising money from participating families.
Most years, more than enough ad money was collected and surplus was donated to the First Aid Squad or the Volunteer Fire Department.
Leo and Betty Fenity were the event’s organizers for many years and have all the details for anyone interested in spearheading the 2007 sale. Call Leo Fenity at 655-0269 for more info.
The Cranbury Arts Council’s 10th anniversary gala is approaching quickly, and organizers are looking for photos from events held over the last 10 years.
If you have any pictures from art classes, programs, fundraisers or kids’ camps, please contact Joanne Hanson at 395-9111.
The gala will take place on March 24 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Monroe, and will honor founding members Sue Leson and Marty Hayden.
Residents may contact Ms. Sedor by phone at (609) 655-3386, by e-mail at [email protected] and by mail at 32 Evans Dr., Cranbury, NJ 08512.
