Weather conditions freeze school day

South Brunswick schools opened 90 minutes late Monday because of inclement weather.
The delay was meant to allow more time for township road crews to clear roads of ice and snow and district workers to clear sidewalks, driveways and parking lots at each of the schools, according to district spokeswoman Rebecca Leonard. She said it also gave the transportation authority time to clear off its buses.
The delay will not affect the district’s two scheduled snow days, Feb. 16 and May 25, which are built into the schools’ schedules to ensure that no additional days of class are needed at the end of the year. If no days of school are canceled before those dates, they will become off days.
