Democrats to replace Jim Lytle on Pennington Council

Democrats interested in replacing Mr. Lytle should call Susan Porcella at 737-8378 or Mayor Tony Persichilli at 737-1165

Citing "personal reasons and family commitments," Jim Lytle has resigned from Pennington Borough Council, effective Jan. 29.
Mr. Lytle’s resignation was announced by borough Mayor Tony Persichilli at Monday night’s council meeting.
The mayor read Mr. Lytle’s letter of resignation aloud. In the letter, Mr. Lytle said "it has been an honor and privilege" to serve on the council, but that "with two grandchildren now living near home," he needs more time for his family.
A Democrat, like all the other council members and the mayor, Mr. Lytle’s three-year term expires Dec. 31, 2008. The local Democratic organization has 15 days from the date of his letter of resignation to submit, to the Borough Council, the names of up to three candidates to replace him. Council then will have 15 days to appoint a replacement.
The replacement will serve until the November general election, when voters will choose someone to finish the balance of Mr. Lytle’s term. Whoever that is would be sworn in shortly after the election.
Susan Porcella, a member of the Pennington Democratic organization and a former borough councilwoman, has asked that any borough Democratic residents interested in replacing Mr. Lytle call her at 737-8378 or Mayor Persichilli at 737-1165.
Mr. Lytle first was elected in November 1999, when he ran successfully with incumbent Councilwoman Liz Muoio, who today is a member of the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders. As a result of those victories, Democrats achieved a majority on Pennington Council in January 2000 for the first time in memory.
Also elected to council that November was Robert Di Falco (Democrat) who ran to fill an unexpired term that ended Dec. 31, 2000.
