Major Red Cross fundraiser gets under way

Volvo of Princeton hosted board leadership, staff and volunteers of the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey Thursday as they kicked off the annual fundraising event that has become a major source of support for local Red Cross programs and services.
Thanks again to a generous donation from Volvo Cars of North America, this year’s Red Cross Car Raffle presents "You Win … You Choose!" The lucky holder of the winning ticket drawn on June 4 will choose the prize vehicle from three selected 2007 Volvo models — the sporty XC90 SUV, the luxurious S80 sedan or the stylish C70 convertible.
Car Raffle Committee co-chairman and Volvo sales manager Christopher Long educated the attendees about the unique qualities found in each of the three vehicles. Red Cross staff and volunteers are responsible for ticket sales and often receive questions about the cars.
"Volvo and the Red Cross share a commitment to safety and we are excited to partner with them again to help make a difference in the community," said Mr. Long. "Together, we can make this year’s raffle the most successful ever."
Last year’s raffle raised more than $180,000.
All proceeds from the raffle go directly to support the programs and services of the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey. Each $100 raffle ticket sold can help comfort a family of three with one night’s lodging and food after they’ve lost everything in a house fire, assure five senior citizens receive a daily hot meal for one week, or provide 540 members of our community with information about disaster preparedness.
A maximum of 2,000 tickets will be sold. Ticket orders are available online at www.njredcross.org or call (609) 951-8550 for additional information.
