Township employees could receive 4 percent raises

A public hearing on the salary and wage ordinance will be held March 21 in West Amwell.

   WEST AMWELL — Township officials and employees are slated to receive a 4 percent raise, retroactive to Jan. 1.
   The Township Committee likely will vote on the increase after a public hearing scheduled for March 21. The salary and wage ordinance was introduced Feb. 21.
   Mayor Ron Shapella said the raises reflect an increase in the cost of living.
   If approved, the mayor’s annual salary would be $3,391. Committeemen Gary Bleacher and William Corboy each would receive $2,844.
   Clerk Lora Olsen would receive $48,672. Ms. Olsen also is the township’s registrar and municipal housing liaison, and for each of these positions, she would receive an additional $2,500. For her job as secretary of the Board of Health, Ms. Olsen also would earn $2,392.
   Deputy Township Clerk Sandy Haberle would receive $28,000. Ms. Haberle also is the assistant treasurer and would receive an additional $2,275 for this position.
   Tax Assessor David Gill would receive $28,730. Tax Collector Catherine Park would receive $29,527. Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer Jane Luhrs would receive $27,874.
   Planning Board Secretary Donna Griffiths would receive $12,612. As the Zoning Board of Adjustment secretary, Ms. Griffiths would receive an additional $5,000. As police administrative secretary, she would receive $34,836. As assistant tax collector, she would get $18.75 per hour.
   Court Administrator Lolly Hoagland would receive $36,885. Magistrate Richard Cushing would be paid $10,980. Deputy Court Administrator Melody Anderson would receive $13 an hour. Court Security Officer Ed Skillman would receive $16.80 an hour.
   Construction official Ed Noval would receive $18,720. Construction administrative secretary Pat Penix would receive $15.14 an hour.
   Plumbing subcode official Chris Rose would receive $5,200. Zoning officer Eugene Venettone would receive $3,096.
   Electrical subcode official Alan Rowles would receive $6,240. In addition, Mr. Rowles would receive $30.95 an hour as the substitute construction official, substitute code official and inspector.
   Road Supervisor Randy Hoagland would earn $28.71 an hour. Road Foreman Frank DeFazio would receive $21.84 an hour.
   Part-time police Officer Wayne Boan would earn $23.94 an hour. Mary Hoagland and Ms. Griffiths each would earn $15.70 as police matrons with a minimum of four hours pay if called out between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
   For her job as dog warden, Mary Hoagland would receive $5,148.
