Shrimp night
Friday, March 2 Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39, located on Fourth Avenue in Roebling, will hold its monthly shrimp dinner at 5:30 p.m. until supplies sell out. Each platter costs $10 and consists of 15 large shrimp, homemade potato salad and cole slaw, dessert, coffee and tea. Meatball sandwiches may be substituted for shrimp with the same sides for $7.
First Friday
Friday, March 2 A coffee house atmosphere is offered every first Friday at 7:30 p.m. featuring an upbeat tempo with great music and thematic art expressions. Chinese auction
Friday, March 2 The Columbus Home and School Association is sponsoring its annual Chinese auction at the Northern Burlington County Regional Middle School cafeteria. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the drawing will begin at 7:30 p.m. Items up for auction include quality handmade crafts, tickets to local attractions, gift certificates to local businesses and more.
There will be a $5 admission fee at the door, which will include one sheet of tickets. Additional tickets and refreshments will be available. You must be 18 to be admitted. Smoking is not allowed.
Brain Tumor Support Group
Saturday, March 3 The Monmouth and Ocean County Brain Tumor Support Group, Inc. will hold its next meeting from 3 to 4:45 p.m. at the Wall Township Branch of the Monmouth County Library, 2700 Allaire Road, Wall. All brain tumor patients or those surviving any previous brain tumor diagnosis, plus family members, friends and health care professionals are invited to attend.

Senior trip
Sunday, March 4 The Florence Township Seniors will host a trip to the Norfolk Azalea Festival from Thursday through Sunday, April 19 through 22.
The four-day trip includes 3 breakfasts, 3 full course dinners, a dinner cruise and entertainment every night, reserved seats at the Grand Parade, two hours at the Va. Casino trip
Sunday, March 4 The Knights of Columbus No. 570 is sponsoring a trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. The bus will leave at 4:30 p.m. from the St. Mary’s Church parking lot on Elizabeth Street, Bordentown, for a four-hour stay at the casino. AARP Safe Driving Class
Monday, March 5 and Tuesday, March 6 An A.A.R.P. Safe Driving Class will be offered from noon to 4 p.m. at Rose of Sharon Lutheran Church, 42 Chesterfield-Jacobstown Road, Jacobstown. The cost of the course is $10. By attending both sessions, students can receive a 5% reduction in auto insurance and have two points removed from their driving record, if applicable.

Meatless Pasta Dinner
Friday, March 9 St. Mary’s School PTA is sponsoring a Meatless Pasta Dinner from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s School Hall, Bordentown City. The menu includes pasta with marinara sauce, Caesar salad, rolls and butter, dessert, and beverages, and is available to eat in or take out. Annual church dinner
Saturday, March 10 The First Presbyterian Church of Bordentown is hosting its 50th Annual Fried Oyster and Chicken Salad Dinner from 1 to 7 p.m. Menu items include fried oysters, homemade chicken salad, mashed potatoes, green beans, pepper hash and homemade cakes for dessert.

Fun Walk
Saturday, March 17 The Fifth Annual Bordentown St. Paddy’s Day 5K and Two Mile Fun Walk will take place on the streets of Bordentown beginning at 8:45 a.m. A one-mile kids’ race will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K at 10 a.m. The 5K and walk are open to all. The kids’ race is for children 12 and under.

Testimonial banquet
Sunday, March 18 The Testimonial Dinner sponsored by the Burlington County Executive Committee of the American Legion will honor Burlington County Commander Dennise Yurcho of the Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 in Roebling.
The banquet will be held at Charley’s Other Brother in Mt. Holly. Cocktails will begin at 1 p.m. with dinner at 2 p.m. The menu includes prime rib, stuffed flounder and chicken cordon bleu.

Sunday, March 25 The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 on Fourth Avenue, Roebling, will hold its monthly Sunday breakfast from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The buffet breakfast includes scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage and more. ‘An Inconvenient Truth’
Tuesday, March 27 The Oscar-winning documentary film about climate change will be screened at the Carslake Community Center in Bordentown City at 7 p.m.
Learn the facts about global warming, extreme weather events and the potential impacts locally, as well as what you can do to help reduce your "carbon footprint" on Mother Earth. A discussion and Q&A will follow the film, including an overview of local efforts to combat climate change at the municipal level.

Night with Elvis
Saturday, March 31 The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 in Roebling will sponsor a night with Elvis. Doors open at 7 p.m. The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 39 will prepare a pork/beef and beer buffet, to begin at 7:30 p.m. A DJ will be play oldies from 7 p.m. to midnight.
The Elvis show begins at 9 p.m. with introductions by a Roy Orbison impersonator.

Spirit walk
Friday, April 27 The 325th Anniversary Committee will hold the third Spirit Walk from 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday, April 27. Specialsat local restaurants and discounts at local retailers will be available. Live music will play in the streets.

Cat volunteers needed
Bordentown City Cats, a cat rescue group in Bordentown, is looking for volunteers to feed, trap, provide transportation to and from vet appointments, or be available once a month for cleanup at the adoption center at an area PetSmart store.
In addition, the group is looking for caring people to foster friendly cats and kittens until they are ready to be put up for adoption.

Light of Hope, a family support group, meets the first Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. at Rose of Sharon Lutheran Church, 42 Chesterfield-Jacobstown Road (Route 528).

Parents Anonymous
Parents Anonymous meets every Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Family Support Organization of Burlington County, 774 Eayrestown Road, Lumberton. The group aims to help parents cope with stress and learn alternative methods of discipline. It is led by volunteer professionals and parent leaders from the community.
Volunteers needed
The Mansfield Township Police Department is currently recruiting volunteers for a domestic violence response team. The team members will work in conjunction with the police to provide support, information and referral at the time of a domestic violence crisis.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have access to transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, be willing to serve a minimum of four 12-hour shifts per month, and submit to background investigations, including fingerprinting. A 40-hour mandatory intensive training course, to be held over an eight-week period during evening and weekend hours is required and will be provided to successful applicants. An understanding of domestic violence issues is a plus, as is a bilingual capacity.
