John Battagliola

John L. Battagliola, 84, of Manalapan, died Feb. 12, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in New York City. Prior to retiring, Mr. Battagliola was an office manager for Linden Meyer, Long Island City, N.Y. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Englishtown. He was predeceased by a daughter, Christine M. Battagliola, in 1996. Surviving are his wife, Lillian Volpe Battagliola; a son and daughter-in-law, John S. and Anne Battagliola of Manalapan; and two grandchildren. The viewing was held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.

Mary Pelszynski

Mary Pelszynski, 91, of Millstone, died Feb. 16, 2007, at home. Born in Bayonne, she had lived in Staten Island, N.Y., as well as in Clark, Brick and Tinton Falls before moving to Millstone in 2000. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Perrineville section of Millstone. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley A. Pelszynski, in 1986. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stanley Pelszynski of Oceanside, Calif., Richard and Patricia Pelszynski of Fairfax Station, Va.; a daughter, Elaine Landy of Millstone; a granddaughter and her husband, Lisa and Eric Bertotti of Carlsbad, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Joseph’s Church, followed by interment at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph’s Church Youth Group, 91 Stillhouse Road, Englishtown 07726.

Ezio Joseph Fragale

Mr. Fragale, 79, of Freehold Township, died Feb. 4, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in San Marco, Cosenza, Italy, he immigrated to the United States when he was 5 years old. He had resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Manalapan for many years before moving to Freehold Township a year and a half ago. Prior to retiring, he was a postal worker at the Jersey City Bulk Mail Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Fragale was predeceased in 1993 by his wife of 41 years, Sylvia Fragale; in 2002 by a brother, Vincent Fragale; and in 2005 by his companion, Eva Shapiro. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Cynthia Fragale of Brick; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Robert Klein of North Brunswick, and Denise and Michael J. Ruppel of Jackson; a brother, Armondo Fragale of Winter Garden, Fla.; and five grandchildren. Interment took place at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown, with Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, in charge of arrangements.

Louise C. Moore

Mrs. Moore, 96, of Neenah, Wis., died suddenly on Feb. 11, 2007. Born on May 7, 1910, in Millstone, she was a resident of the New Egypt section of Plumsted and Allentown before moving to Neenah eight years ago. She received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education in 1933 from Trenton State Teachers College (now The College of New Jersey), Ewing, and taught at New Egypt Elementary School for 45 years. She was a former member of the Allentown Presbyterian Church and a communicant of Congregational United Church of Christ, Neenah. Mrs. Moore was predeceased in 1956 by her husband, Earle D. Moore; her twin sister, Hannah Havens; a brother, Perrine McKnight; and a nephew, Earl McKnight. Surviving are a niece, Virginia Stutzman of Neenah; a nephew and his wife, John and Virginia Havens of Millstone; and many grandnieces, grandnephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. A memorial service was held at Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown, with Dr. Stephen Heinzel-Nelson officiating. Interment followed at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Richard L. Szwed

Mr. Szwed, 39, of the Cream Ridge section of Upper Freehold, died Feb. 15, 2007, at Capital Health System-Fuld Campus, Trenton. Born in Trenton, he was a resident of Cream Ridge for many years before moving to Wrightstown and had attended Allentown High School. He enjoyed scuba diving and was at the top of his class at Divers Academy International in Camden. Mr. Szwed was predeceased by his parents, Katherine (Hill) and Joseph Szwed. Surviving are two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph and Cheryl Szwed of Cream Ridge, and Michael Szwed of Allentown; a sister, Kelly Szwed of Robbinsville; and two nieces, Michelle and Amy Szwed of Cream Ridge. A funeral service was held at Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown, followed by interment at Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville.
