Melvin Myers is only candidate in Hopewell Borough

By the time 4:01 p.m. Monday came, school district officials in the Administration Building in Pennington had received seven nominating petitions from individuals who have declared their intention to run April 17 for two open Hopewell Township seats (three-year terms) on the nine-member school board.
Monday at 4 p.m. was the deadline for submitting the petitions.
The sole Hopewell Borough candidate, incumbent Melvin Myers, filed his petition weeks ago. Mr. Myers originally was appointed to fill a vacancy in September 2004 and got Hopewell’s OK in April 2005 to serve the remaining two years of that term. Now he will seek a three-year term.
The seven township hopefuls include two incumbents, Kim Newport, of 55 E. Welling Ave., and Werner Graf, of 140 Reservoir Road. Ms. Newport is the current president of the Hopewell Valley Regional Board of Education.
The other five candidates are: Robert Gehm, of 12 Timkak Lane; Ken Hansen, of 23 Lake Baldwin Drive; Neil Seftor, of 6 Blake Drive; Aaron Tellier, of 3 Forrest Blend Drive, Titusville; and James Wulf, of 8 Hart Court, Titusville.
Pennington’s one seat, held by Kevin Doran, is not involved in this year’s election. He was re-elected last year to a three-year term, which ends in 2009.
