Perrineville resident Rita M. Gulden, executive director of the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) in Trenton; Laurel McCarty, development associate at ArtsHorizons in Englewood; Alison Deeb, development director for the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC); and Lynette Rente, executive assistant of the International Institute of New Jersey in Jersey City, were awarded 2006 conference scholarships, made possible through Prudential.

More than 300 participants attended “New Directions in Philanthropy,” the 26th annual Conference on Philanthropy, for a day-long program that is the Garden State’s largest gathering of nonprofit professionals, executive directors, board members, donors and volunteers affiliated with nonprofit agencies, corporations, private and public foundations and government offices.

AFP is the leading professional organization for executives who work for nonprofit and philanthropic organizations. The New Jersey Chapter’s more than 500 members work to promote the advancement, growth and ethics of philanthropy and volunteerism.

MJH & Associates has promoted Tighe Blazier to the position of president of ArcMesa Educators LLC. The New York City-based Institute for Leadership (IFL) has announced that Peter Grandich of Trinity Financial Sports and Entertainment Management Co., Millstone, has become a founding “head coach” for the newly formed IFL. As a head coach, Grandich will help the organization raise much-needed funding for many sports-related charities and ministries.

The IFL’s mission is to assist individuals in positions of leadership in applying Biblical wisdom and principles to their planning and decision-making. The organization was founded by Super Bowl Champion New York Giant Lee Rouson and former New York Jet Michael Faulkner.

The Monmouth/Ocean County Adoptive Families support group will host an Adoption Expo, March 24 from 1-5 p.m. in the Spiritual Center at St. Mary’s Church (corner of Route 34 and Phalanx Road), Colts Neck.

Guests will learn about the adoption process from adoption agency representatives, an adoption attorney and an adoption therapist, as well as have the opportunity to meet with pre- and post-adoptive families with first-hand experience in domestic, international and transracial adoptions. Light refreshments and a selection of adoption related books and jewelry will be available for purchase.
