Without the support of the community, the fair will not take place this year
The Hopewell Harvest Fair planning committee held its "kick-off" meeting recently to begin work on the 21st annual fair and has reported that the "fair is in serious need of new volunteers."
This year is a rebuilding year for the fair, according to a spokeswoman. "After more than 20 years of dedicated service, many of the fair’s board members and longtime volunteers have stepped down."
The planning committee is seeking volunteers to fill several positions, including a chair or co-chairs, the Wooden Car Derby chair, a publicity person, chair of the children’s rides committee, board members and general help.
The planners ask parents who attend each year with their children to consider pitching in, "so the town can continue to enjoy this wonderful annual community event. The focus of this year’s Harvest Fair fundraising would be the ‘Save St Michael’s’ fund," if the fair is held.
Without the support of the community, the fair will not take place this year. For information on how to help, e-mail [email protected] or contact Nancy Tawfik at PNC Bank at 466-5250.
