MONTGOMERY The Montgomery Center for the Arts will host Princeton University Professor Cornel West as its guest speaker for the center’s major donor event on Tuesday.
A world-renowned scholar, speaker, and writer, Dr. West is known for his fresh looks at the life of black Americans and their position within the nation relative to government.
Dr. West’s presentation will be on the topic, "What Does It Mean To Be Human."
Dr. West has an undergraduate degree from Harvard University, studied at Yale University’s divinity school and obtained a master’s degree and doctorate from Princeton University, where he currently instructs students as a Professor of Religion and African American Studies.
Dr. West is the recipient of many honorary degrees, and the American Book Award.The event will be held at a private residence in Montgomery from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. With limited space at the event site, attendance will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served. Tickets are $75 per person and are tax deductible.
