Calabro paces Chiropractors overtime win

Shooting Stars, George’s Home Repair, J&G, First Washington, Karl Mey’s also win titles

   Washington Chiropractic won the Girls 3-4 Division Rec Basketball Championship with a 15-13 overtime victory over Martinez Remaxers.
   Rachel Calabro led the offense with 13 points, including the game-winning jumper in overtime, while Peyton Waters started the scoring with an early lay-up. Ariana Dolce, who contributed 4 steals, led the defense. Sami Josephson (3 blocks), Shanna Calabro (8 rebounds) and Kristina Reid (2 steals) also played a major role in securing the victory. Emily Langsdorf also helped out on offense with 5 assists. Liz Hodsdon (4) and Mira Bharafiya (2) rebounded the ball well.
   Despite giving all of their effort until the final horn sounded, the Martinez Remaxers team of Kristen Kowalski, Natalie Martinez, Nicolina Iorio, Christina Dottino, Casey Schlotman, Andrea Escobar, Abigail Kirkpatrick, Colette Gazonas, Madsion Cortina and Melissa Ailey were not able to cap off their spectacular season with a win.    BOYS 3-4

   The Shooting Stars defeated the previously unbeaten 33’s Barber Shop, 18-17, to earn their place as champions of the Boys 3-4 Division.
   Chris May hit the game winner with 20 seconds remaining and led the scoring for the Shooting Stars. Ryan Fisher, John Riggs, Michael Fisher, Danny Mazer, Chris Massi, Kyle O’ Kane, Matt Spiegel and Brett Van Tassel played spectacular all-around games to get the clutch victory for the Shooting Stars.
   33’s Barber Shop players James Notor and Ben Diamond came up big under pressure in a hard-fought final game. Ryan Gross, Alec Karousatos and Adam Duvin also played tough defense to keep the game close. Ryan McCunney, Daniel Donoghue, Jake Todd and Brandon Klein also played great games to finish off a well-played season by 33’s Barber Shop.
   GIRLS 5-6

   George’s Home Repair came out on top in a defensive struggle over Villa Barone by a score of 6-4.
   Courtney Stahlbrand, Daniele Celano, Deanna Chhor, and Lauren Guididas shut down the high-powered Villa Barone with solid defense. On the offensive side, Lauren Fischer, Melissa Sullivan and Kaitlyn Stahlbrand each chipped in to earn George’s Home Repair the championship victory.
   Villa Barone stayed with George’s until the final seconds to cap off an amazing season played by Aditi Vast, Addie Calabro, Jamie Migliaccio, Christina Parylak, Alexis Stringfellow, Tori Sankey, Brianna Santoro and Allison Whitty.
   BOYS 5-6

   J&G Construction won a close game over Take 5 Gourmet, 28-22.
   J&G Construction won the game with great defense and hustle by Brandon Johnston, Jordan Mazer, David Haftel, Vikram Sridhar, Preston Teel, Dan Nason, Eric Gladysz and Anthony Geisler to secure the championship with a team effort.
   For the Take 5 team, Dante Focarelli, C.J. Gearhart, Qasim Muzaffar, Tyler Sankey, Dominic McAnany, Josh Summers, Nicholas Dertony and Eric Hildebrand played smart with a lot of energy. The entire team played together for the entire year, with every player realizing his full potential.
   GIRLS 7-8

   First Washington State Bank competed tenaciously for a hard-fought overtime victory over Moldworks to win the Girls 7-8 Division Championship, 22-21.
   The First Washington State Bank squad of Sami Morales, Jamie Van Hise, Kasey McKiernan, Breanne Clements, Vagisha Pandey, Amanda Orlak, Amanda Matyas, Kerry Curran, Taylor Mayweather and Virginia Schneider played a great team game.
   To cap off the season, the Moldworks team of Nicole Hyams, Lindsay Stewart, Amanda Korbar, Melissa Lekulitch, Alyssa McAnany, Alyssa Rubinstein, Kasey Homan and Lauren Hunter played with all of their effort until the very end.
   BOYS 7-8

   Karl Mey’s Collision & Paint won the Boys 7-8 Division Championship with a 31-27 win over RWJ-Hamilton.
   Johnny Demkovitz led all scorers with 19 points, while Ryan Mayer dominated the post with 10 points and 17 rebounds. AJ Sanguinetti and Dan Conolly spread the floor on offense to control the tempo, while Ryan Zuczek played well down low to add to the Karl Mey’s tally.
   Although RWJ Hamilton lost the final game, the team succeeded in getting every player to score this season. The coaches would like to thank Steven Kowalski, Nick Villa, Adam Dublas, Austin Lazarus, Anirudh Bandu, Billy Lovering, Zak "And One" Zielinski, Brian Wood, Jack Virgie, and Travis Gross for a great season.
