More than 30 students from Lakewood High School are currently rehearsing for the school’s annual “Broadway” musical. This year the students will perform “Sugar,” the comical musical version of the classic film “Some Like It Hot.”
“Sugar” tells the story of two unemployed jazz musicians who escape from the mob by disguising themselves as women in an all-girl band. Mark Fisher and Tyler Clarke play the two musicians on the run and Corinne Haupt plays Sugar. Chris Crooks plays the mob leader Spats and Shamira Smith plays the band manager Sweet Sue.
The show is directed by Angela Corenblith and the music is conducted by Susan Rovira. The show will be performed at Lakewood High School, 855 Somerset Ave., March 23 and 24 at 7 p.m. and March 25 at 2 p.m. Details and tickets: (732) 905-3519.
