TRENTON Mercer County is seeking letters, mementos or any other correspondence from the past or present from U.S. service members in order to put the items on display at the county’s McDade Administration Building.
Any item that gives a sense of a serviceperson’s experience serving in a branch of the military, both in times of war and peace, is welcomed, according to the county.
These items can include, but are not limited to letters or postcards sent by the serviceperson, photos, news clippings featuring the serviceperson and his or her work abroad, sketches or other visual artwork, poems or short prose written by the serviceperson.
Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes said items collected would be displayed on the Administration Building’s fourth floor in order to give the public a glimpse of what life is like for current and former service men and women.
The county will return all items to donors once the display is dismantled. For more information, contact Ed Mazzeo, chief of Veterans Services, at (609) 989-6120.
