EATONTOWN – The fifth murder suspect in the 2005 shooting death of Latyria Nealy was arrested last week at the Pan American Motel on Route 35.
Nealy, 21, Neptune, was found shot on Dec. 5, 2005, after Asbury Park police received a 911 phone call reporting a shooting in the area of the Frederick Douglas Apartments on Mattison Avenue.
On March 13, Shalyce Davis, 22, had been a fugitive from justice since Jan. 18, 2006, when warrants were issued for her arrest on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the gang-related fatal shooting that ended in Nealy’s death.
“United States marshals with the federal NY/NJ Regional Task Force tracked Davis to the Pan American Motel in Eatontown,” according to a press release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, “culminating a nearly two-month-long search for her that spanned three states. United States marshals, the Asbury Park police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office responded to the Pan American Motel and arrested Davis without incident.”
Davis’ bail was set at $1 million with no 10 percent option on March 14 by Superior Court Judge Paul F. Chaiet.
The ongoing investigation has already resulted in the arrests of Nikki Moore, 19, Cassey Gross, 20, Quincell Adams, 18, and Samuel Ling, 19.
“On Feb. 21, 2007,” according to the press release, “United States marshals arrested Tyietha Burnett, 31, of Irvington, and Eva Clark, 36, of Newark, on charges of hindering apprehension after their investigation revealed that Burnett and Clark were aware that authorities were searching for Davis in order to arrest her, but nonetheless allowed Davis to avoid capture by providing a safe haven for her to stay.”
