The inspired work of 51 photographers is on view at The Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury, where “Eyesight 2007” is on exhibit through March 28.
The fourth annual all-members juried photography show and exhibit opened March 4 at the guild with a reception honoring this year’s award winners.
The competition, whose theme is “Look Up, Look Down,” was judged by Nancy Ori, a photographer and video producer.
“The images I found the most compelling were those displaying a unique point of view,” said Ori in a press release from the guild. “It was interesting to see how often the point of view helped create a strong composition. The work chosen represents a combination of travelogue, conceptualism, realism, documentary, abstract and project-oriented work with the use of a variety of film and digital techniques. Many conveyed a strong aesthetic, an expression of mood, mystery or natural beauty.”
EyeSights 2007 recognized medal winners in three categories: Color, Black and White, and Alternative. First place winners received $500 awards, second place received $250, and third place $150.
Lucia Ravens, Avon-by-the Sea, captured Best in Show honors for her three-dimensional, sculptural photographic work “Make the Peace.”
In the Color category, Warner White, Fair Haven, was awarded first place for “Valencia Fantasy;” second place, Marnie Mitchell-Lister, Spring Lake, “Floating Petal”; third place, Donna Arvelo, Ocean Township, Untitled Triptych; honorable mention, Joe Prusky, North Middletown, “Last Boat In.”
In the Black & White category, Leela Hovnanian, Red Bank, took first place with “Untitled NYC”; second place, Leon Lundervold, Wall, “Eye to Eye”; third place, Emily Hueston, Leonardo, “Twiga”; honorable mention, Amy Puccio, Howell, “Descending Skyward.”
