School board makes personnel decisions

   Hopewell Valley Central High School (CHS) practical arts teacher Paul Clayton is retiring July 1.
   Mr. Clayton has been with the Hopewell Valley district since 1973. The school board voted unanimously Monday night to accept his retirement.
   Two other CHS practical arts teachers also are retiring after this school year ends — Richard Estelow and Skip Johnson, who have been at the school 41 years and 40 years respectively. Their retirements were announced several weeks ago.
   Another longtime employee whose July 1 retirement was accepted Monday night is Christine Lewis, a student assistance counselor at CHS and Timberlane Middle School. Ms. Lewis has been with the district since 1989.
   Other personnel actions unanimously approved the board include:
   — The resignation, effective March 7, of Timberlane special education teacher Jo Aynn Brooks.
   — The resignation, effective July 1, of Timberlane speech and language therapist Ellen Scott.
   — Appointment of David Gereonemo as special education teacher at Central High School, effective May 21 for the rest of this school year. Mr. Gereonemo’s annual salary will be $60,069. He has a master’s degree.
   — Granting of a personal leave of absence for the 2007-2008 school year to Timberlane teacher Caroline Jachura.
   — Granting of a personal leave of absence for the 2007-2008 school year to Hopewell Elementary teacher Kimberly MacArthur.
   — Granting of a personal leave of absence to Khara Levy, teacher at Stony Brook Elementary, from March 12 to June 21.
