Paul Robert Nixon
HAMILTON Paul Robert Nixon, 68, died Saturday at his residence.
Born in Bordentown, he lived most of his life in the Bordentown and Mansfield area before moving to Hamilton several years ago.
Mr. Nixon retired after 20 years of service from the Department of Corrections, Jones Farms in West Trenton.
He enjoyed collecting antique kerosene lamps and he was a fan of the Phillies, Eagles, and Sixers.
Mr. Nixon taught the breeding of cows and loved to cook.
Son of the late John and Josephine Stedfold Nixon, he is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kathy De Santis Nixon; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Frederick Nixon of Hamilton, Paul Jr. and Lori Nixon of Springfield Township; a daughter, Mary Beth Nixon of Hamilton; a brother, Earl Nixon of Cookstown; two grandchildren, Samantha and Zachary Nixon; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday from the Buklad Memorial Home, 2141 S. Broad St. in Hamilton.
Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Hamilton.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the memorial home.
Esther I. Nelson
BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP Esther I. Nelson (nee Roberts), 87, died Friday at Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton.
Born in Hedding, she had lived in Bordentown Township for the last 53 years.
Ms. Nelson was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Bordentown.
Mother of the late Robert A. Nelson Jr., she is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert A. Nelson Sr. of Bordentown Township; two grandsons, Douglas R. Nelson and Daniel W. Nelson, both of Bordentown Township; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St., Bordentown with the Rev. Thomas C. Miller officiating.
Interment followed in Groveville Cemetery.
At the deceased’s request, there were no viewing hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her behalf to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown, NJ 08505.
Frances M. Traks
COLUMBUS Frances M. Traks, 73, died Friday at Capital Health Systems at Helene Fuld in Trenton.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., she was a resident of Bordentown for 43 years before moving to Columbus five years ago.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, trips to Atlantic City and spending time with her family.
Daughter of the late Francis and Margaret P. McGuire Ferris, mother of the late Edward L. Traks, and sister of the late Margaret Jakemer, she is survived by her husband Edward G. Traks of Columbus; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Deborah Traks of Quincy, Pa.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Darlene F. Weir of Burlington and Margaret and Petra Pulhac of Bordentown; a brother and sister-in-law, James P. and Frances Ferris of Whiting; seven grandchildren, Sarah and Joseph Camp, Matthew Traks, Jennifer Macario, Patrick Weir, Peter and Ariana Pulhac; one great-grandchild, Kayla Macario; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown City.
Burial followed at the parish cemetery
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 539 Lane Ave., Memphis, TN 39105.
Edward M. Zalewski
FLORENCE Edward M. Zalewski died March 22 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton.
Born in Trenton, he lived in the Roebling and Florence area most of his life.
Mr. Zalewski retired in 1974 as a wire dye maker for the CF & I Corp. in Roebling after 39 years of service. He then worked for US Steel in Fairless Hills for a while before working at NADE in Bordentown for 20 years before retiring five years ago.
Mr. Zalewski was a WWII Army veteran and a member of the Roebling VFW Post 8838. He was also a member of the Holy Assumption Church of Roebling and the Holy Name Society of the church, and attended the Widows and Widowers of Burlington County. He enjoyed fishing and dancing and in his younger years was an avid bowler.
Husband of the late Elma McCloskey Zalewski and the late Theresa DeLuca Zalewski, and grandfather of the late Frankie Forsyth, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Earla and James Horner of Roebling, and Paula and Joseph Boccolni of Edgewater Park; a sister, Josephine DeLorenzo of Bristol, Pa.; a brother, Leon (Doris) Zalewski of Roebling; a granddaughter, Heather Lee Horner of Roebling; and a dear friend, Mary Swope of Florence.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at Holy Assumption Church, Hornberger Avenue, Roebling.
Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Ann Simon
CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. Ann Simon, 88, died March 21 in Salisbury, Md.
Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong resident of Bordentown before moving to Virginia two years ago.
Ms. Simon was previously employed by Fort Dix as a seamstress, and she had also worked for Switlick Parachute Company. She was the previous owner of Ann’s Canvas Shop.
She is survived by her husband, Frank G. Simon of Chincoteague, Va.; her son, Frank R. Simon and his spouse Terri of Tuckerton; two daughters, JoAnn S. Bryfogle and her spouse Richard of Stockbridge, Vt. and Lorraine Tyler of Chincoteague, Va.; two brothers, Michael Uveges of Trenton and Stephan Uveges of Pennington; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be noon Thursday at the Huber-Moore Funeral Home, 517 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
Father Leo Duschek of the Divine Word Missionaries will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in her memory be made to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Cuthbert Blvd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08037.
Jeanne A. Kirsch
BORDENTOWN Jeanne A. Kirsch, 77, died March 17 at Alterra Clare Bridge in Westampton.
Born in Jersey City, she was a resident there until moving to Bordentown 16 years ago. She had worked for Colgate-Palmolive for 40 years.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Dorothy and Walter Kaczan and Steven Kirsch of Jersey City, Frank and Lorraine Kirsch of Pt. Pleasant Beach, Michael Kirsch of Bogata, Jeanne and Anthony Adornetto of Whitehouse Station, Maria and John Burke of Blairstown, and Perry Kirsch of Blakslee, Pa.; close friends Marilyn Holzmann and Raymond French; several grand-nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday from the Peppler Funeral Home, 112 Crosswicks St., Bordentown.
Interment followed at Bordentown Cemetery
Sol Sloshberg
BORDENTOWN Sol Sloshberg, 96, died March 16 at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong resident before moving to Bordentown two years ago.
Mr. Sloshberg was the owner of Sloshberg’s Department Store in Hamilton for over 40 years. He was also a former member of Bordentown Elks. Sol was an avid sports fan and until recently had spent winters in Florida and loved to travel the world with his wife Hazel.
Son of the late Archie and Rosie Brilitsky Sloshberg, predeceased by six siblings, his son, Willard and his stepdaughter, Mary Lynn Brewster. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Hazel Brewster Sloshberg; a daughter, Ina Caro and her husband Robert of New York City; daughter-in-law Leah Sloshberg of Baltimore, Md; stepchildren, Evelyn Pittman and her husband Daniel of Somerville, S.C., Martha McKinley and her husband Sean of Wilmington, Del., Edwin Brewster and his wife Joan of Hamilton and James Brewster of Sayerville; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Sidney Slauson of Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held Sunday at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Sol’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Ave.
Myrtle Thomas
FLORENCE Myrtle (Deetles) Thomas (nee Hughes), 84, of Florence died March 11 at Kennedy Hospital in Cherry Hill.
Born in Florence, she was a lifelong resident.
Ms. Thomas was a homemaker but in her younger years worked at the Fleetwing Corp. and ran her mother’s candy and ice cream store on Broad Street in Florence, known as Sarah Luca’s Candy Store.
She was a former member of the Florence American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 and enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, and watching the HSN and QVC networks on TV.
Daughter of the late Wilbur and Sarah Lucas Hughes, and wife of the late Herbert Thomas, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Harold (Toby) Houseworth of Florence; two grandchildren, Kevin (Emily) Houseworth and Melanie Houseworth, all of Florence; two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Kevin Houseworth Jr.; many nieces, nephews and cousins, including Leon (Jean) Hughes of Florence; and many friends, including Gerri, Clyde and Margaret Conrey.
Funeral services were held March 17 at St. Clare’s Church, 232 E. Front St., Florence, with the Rev. Felix F. Venza, pastor, officiating.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Florence.
