Study of Sewer Operating Committee tract off River Road OK’d

The Princeton Township Committee and the Princeton Borough Council have endorsed the creation of a staff committee to study uses for a 171-acre tract off River Road.
The tract is located in the township but owned by the borough, which is expected to turn part of the title over to the township.
Officials from both municipalities agreed Monday to create the task force, which will prepare a report for the two governing bodies. It will examine the possibility of joint municipal services at the site, possibly for the public works departments of both towns.
Borough Councilman Roger Martindell questioned the township’s stake in the property. He requested that prior to the deed transfer the special committee study the percentage of ownership of the two municipalities so the borough did not "give away" valuable land.
According to the Princeton tax assessor, the property is worth more than $41 million.
The council rejected Martindell’s request, however.
