Lambertville

   Mark Walters, 38, of Tobyhanna, Pa., was charged with drunken driving March 29.
   Police said Mr. Walters was going 70 mph on Route 165, which has a posted speed limit of 35 mph, at 3:15 p.m.
   As police turned around, Mr. Walters accelerated to more than 100 mph and continued south on Route. 29.
   He passed another motorist in a no-passing zone before nearly striking a New Jersey Department of Corrections officer head-on, police said.
   Police caught up to Mr. Walters when he got caught behind traffic near the Mercer County Workhouse.
   Mr. Walters was uncooperative, police said. He had several open containers of alcohol in the vehicle, police said.
   Mr. Walters said he was on his way to pick up his son from school in Ewing, police said.
   He also was charged with reckless driving, speeding, improper passing, failure to maintain lane, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, consumption of alcohol in a vehicle, possession of open containers of alcohol in a vehicle, failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to inspect and failure to exhibit documents.
   Mr. Walters was taken to the Hunterdon County Jail where he was released the following day.
   Two juveniles are facing charges for allegedly stealing property from Mount Hope Cemetery and damaging headstones Friday.
   Police were called to the cemetery on a report of juveniles damaging property with a chain they had removed from a gated fence. Police said the juveniles hit headstones with the chain.
   The juveniles fled into a nearby development where they tried to hide, police said. One of the juveniles tried to resist arrest, police said.
   Both face charges of theft, trespassing, criminal mischief and resisting arrest. They were turned over to guardians.
   Gerald La Nasa, 45, of Washington Crossing, Pa., was arrested on an outstanding warrant March 27.
   Police stopped Mr. La Nasa for speeding on Route 165.
   A check revealed his New Jersey driver’s license was suspended, and a warrant had been issued for his arrest for failure to appear on traffic charge in Princeton Borough, police said.
   He was released after posting $240 bail.
   He was charged with speeding and driving with a suspended driver’s license.
   Peter Grieb, 40, of Trenton was arrested on a warrant March 27.
   Police stopped Mr. Grieb on Route 29 after a check revealed his vehicle was unregistered.
   Mr. Grieb was driving on the revoked list, police said, and had a warrant issued for his arrest for failure to appear on traffic charges in Medford Township.
   Mr. Grieb was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and operating an unregistered vehicle.
   He was released after posting $250 bail.
   Harry Matthews, 40, of Lambertville was arrested on a warrant March 27.
   Police stopped Mr. Matthews on York Street because a check revealed his license was suspended.
   Mr. Matthews had a warrant issued by the city for failure to appear on traffic charges.
   He was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and released after posting $89 bail.
