Chorale celebrates 50 years of song

The Shrewsbury Chorale, which performed its first concert at Monmouth College in 1957, will celebrate its Golden Anniversary in a special Reunion Concert at Pollak Theatre, Monmouth University, June 2.

The Reunion Concert will feature works performed throughout the decades under the leadership of founder Alden Hammond and his successors; laureate conductor Paul O. Grammer, Frank Archer, Larry Newland, Brian Aschinger, Stephen M. Smith, Ann Hannah, Steven Russell, Charles Harris and Anthony LaGruth.

Several of the past conductors will be in attendance and will once again take up their batons to direct the chorale during this special event.

All past members of the chorale are invited to participate in the program during the singing of the Beethoven “Hallelujah” and Brahms “How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place.”
