Construction continues at Main, DeVoe

SPOTSWOOD – Residents and motorists are being warned to expect traffic delays as construction work continues over the next week in the area of Main Street and DeVoe Avenue.

The police department issued an advisory this week that work will be taking place through tomorrow, and again from April 9-13. The work will be performed from 10 p.m. each night through 6 a.m. the next morning. It will result in a lane closure.

Borough Administrator Ron Fasanello said the project is being performed by Verizon, which is upgrading its network to fiber. Verizon, which maintains a conduit system along the south side of Main Street, is installing 1,420 feet of new conduit to accommodate the new fiber cables.

Fasanello said the project, which began March 28, is taking longer than expected.

Police asked motorists to plan alternate routes if possible or allow extra time for travel around that intersection.
