With the decision by Superior Court Judge Frank Buczynski Jr. to temporarily quash the subpoenas of Mayor Dan Kelly, Michael Blandina and Charles Starkey, this decision doesn’t bode well for the Republican council in Brick nor for the advice provided by their attorneys and ultimately for the taxpayers in Brick.
Mayor Dan Kelly brought suit to the Superior Court for a legal opinion on whether Mayor Dan Kelly had the right to make the administration appointments and for a legal opinion only.
The Republican council then proceeded to hire lawyers, and the approach their attorneys took was to run up the tab by broadening the suit. Superior Court Judge Frank Buczynski Jr.’s decision was to tell the attorneys for the Republican council that the motion to compel depositions of Mayor Dan Kelly, Michael Blandina and Charles Starkey was denied.
Mayor Dan Kelly’s attorney is not costing the town of Brick one thin dime. Due to the bad advice of the Republican council’s attorneys, the residents of Brick shouldn’t have to pay for their fee either.
