JACKSON – A white man believed to be in his mid to late 30s is being sought by the Jackson Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office for questioning in relation to an incident of lewdness.
The incident which occurred at about 5 p.m. March 14 in the vicinity of Louisiana Parkway and Alaska Avenue is under investigation by both law enforcement agencies.
In a press release, Jackson police Capt. David Newman said that during the incident a white man in his mid to late 30s, balding with light hair, a medium build, and operating a silver or gray colored pick-up truck approached four children and asked them if they knew the location of a street.
The children were all 13 years of age or younger, according to the press release.
Newman said the suspect asked the children to come closer to his vehicle and at that time he exposed his genitals to them. He then left the area in his vehicle.
As a result of an investigation, Jackson police later learned that a man fitting the description of the suspect in the March 14 incident had approached another child in January, again asking for directions. However, no exposure is believed to have occurred during that incident, according to police.
A sketch of the suspect was prepared by Patrolman Chris McDowell of the Toms River Police Department.
Residents are being asked to contact Jackson police at (732) 928-1111 to report any incident when one occurs.
