HILLSBOROUGH Laurence B. Lane Sr. died March 28 at Raritan Health & Extended Care Center in Raritan. He was 91.
Born in Somerville, he lived in Hillsborough all his life.
Mr. Lane was a longtime mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office. He also was employed by JS Covert & Sons in Neshanic Station until 1942. He also owned and operated Hillsborough Lawn & Garden in Hillsborough for over 60 years.
He was a past president of the Neshanic Fire Company and was general administrator of the Neshanic Cemetery Association from 1950 to 2007.
He was a member of the Clover Hill Reformed Church for 63 years.
His wife, A. Ruth (Fenwick) Lane, died in 2000.
Surviving are a daughter, Jean Lane Gibson of Hillsborough; two sons, Laurence B. Jr. of Morristown and Jeffrey W. of Flemington; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday from Clover Hill Reformed Church. Burial was in Neshanic Cemetery in Hillsborough.
