Frederick C. O’Connell
Mr. O’Connell, 71, of Middletown, died March 27, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born in New York City. He was a Realtor at Diane Turton Realtors, Middletown, where he was employed the past 30 years. He served with the U.S. Army during Peacetime. He was a member of the National Board of Realtors. He is survived by his wife, Marian Rothfeld O’Connell; four daughters and one son-in-law, Laurie A. and Denis Fluet of Brick, Crystal M. Enderlin and Jaime L. O’Connell, both of Middletown, and Wendy V. O’Connell of Ocean; a son, Kevin O’Connell of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law,. Kathleen and Richard Troy of Vero Beach, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Catherine Anna McLellan Pethick
Mrs. Pethick, 92, of Middletown, died March 28 at Imperial Care Center, Neptune. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Middletown 20 years, and St. Petersburg, Fla., for 30 years. She was a retired supervisor at Western Electric, Kearney, and Haverhill, Mass. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was the New Jersey Women’s International Bowling Congress champion for several years. She was an avid traveler, visiting all 50 states as well as Cuba, Canada, and Mexico. She enjoyed gardening, sailing, and ballroom dancing. She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip in 1970; three brothers, James, Joseph and William McLellan; three sisters, Margaret Powell, Helen McLellan and Anne Havey. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Florence Gomm of Hewitt; a sister, Dolores Ernst of Manahawkin; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.
Mary E. Oliver Zebro
Mrs. Zebro, 82, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge, died March 28, 2007, at home. Born in Newark, she resided there prior to relocating to Cliffwood Beach 49 years ago. She was a homemaker. She served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. She was a former volunteer at Bayshore Community Hospital, and member of the Old Bridge Seniors. She is survived by her husband, Joseph F. Zebro; a daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Ciro de los Reyes of Cliffwood Beach; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Jane Zebro of Hazlet; a brother, David Oliver of Rogue River, Ore.; a sister, Dorothy Schnepf of the Avenel section of Woodbridge; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Keyport. Interment was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Tom Engstrom
Mr. Engstrom, 48, of Keansburg, died March 30, 2007, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Newark, he resided in Union Beach prior to relocating to Keansburg 12 years ago. He was a master carpenter at GJC Associates, Red Bank, the past 28 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Amanda A. Blasi Engstrom. He is survived by his wife, Jodi Kennedy Engstrom; a son, Tommy J. Engstrom of Union Beach; four daughters and one son-in-law, Heather Engstrom of Union Beach, Jennifer and Matthew Tevis of Keyport, and Victoria Frantz and Tobi Engstrom of Keansburg; three brothers, Jay Engstrom of Fort Mahave, Ariz., John Engstrom of Montrose, Pa., and Toby Engstrom of Laurence Harbor; and two sisters, Janet Schmierer of Holmdel, and Tina Garcia of Carbondale, Pa. William “Bill” Dietrich
Mr. Dietrich, 68, of Matawan, died April, 2, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Newark, he resided in East Orange prior to relocating to Matawan in 1966. He was a police sergeant with the Matawan Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 1992. He was a radar man with the U.S. navy on the USS Everglades during peacetime. He was a communicant of St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan. He was a member of the USS Everglades Association, and Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club. He was also a member, and served as a delegate, treasurer, vice president and president of PBA No. 179. He enjoyed travel, and photography, and was a NASCAR fan. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Louise Romer Dietrich; a son, Joseph Dietrich of San Francisco; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen Marie and Scott Donohue of Sellersville, Pa.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Al DeNorcia of Holmdel. Karen Rose Goldstein Snyder
Mrs. Snyder, 37, of Wesley Chapel, Fla., died April 3, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She resided in Hazlet prior to relocating to Wesley Chapel. She was an activities director at South Tampa (Fla.) Health and Rehabilitation Center. Prior to that, she was the activities director at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation, Red Bank, and Fountainview Care Center, Lakewood. She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Goldstein; and her stepfather, Angelo Guastaferro. She is survived by her mother, Regina Guastaferro; a brother and sister-in-law, Adam and Dawn Goldstein; and her boyfriend, Frantz David Jr. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Mr. Kinsella, 83, of Whiting, died April 4, 2007, at Community Memorial Hospital, Toms River. He was born in Staten Island, N.Y. He was a retired foreman at DeJonge Paper Co., Staten Island, where he was employed several years. He is survived by his wife, Alice Tomasin Kinsella; two sons, Arthur Kinsella of the Belford section of Middletown, and Michael Kinsella of Brick; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Marianna Piccolo Gencarelli
Mrs. Gencarelli, 53, of Middletown, died April 5, 2007, at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. born in Staten Island, she resided there prior to relocating to Middletown seven years ago. She was a secretary at Monmouth Beach Board of Education. She was predeceased by a daughter, Arianna Gencarelli; and her parents, Maria and Joseph Piccolo. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, George Gencarelli; a daughter, Bethany Gencarelli of Middletown; a son, George J. Gencarelli of Union City; and a brother, Michael Piccolo of Long Branch.
