Primary season in full swing

The November election is still months away, but Monday was the deadline for Republicans and Democrats to file for the June 5 primary election.
In Bordentown Township, Republican incumbent William J. Morelli filed for a three-year seat on the Township Committee, and Democrat Andrew L. Watson filed to run for his party’s nomination.
In Chesterfield, incumbent Republican Brian Kelly, who currently serves as mayor, filed to run for the available three-year Township Committee seat. No Democrats filed in Chesterfield.
In Florence, the Democratic candidates include both an incumbent and many newcomers. Running for mayor, a four-year seat, is current council member John Fratinardo. Sean P. Ryan and Maryann Marian have filed to run for two four-year council member-at-large seats. On the Republican ticket, William Berry has filed to run for mayor, and William V. Federico and Timothy Lutz have filed to run for council member-at-large.
In Fieldsboro, two Democratic candidates, Johnette Hardesky, and Elizabeth Marsh, filed for two three-year seats.
In Mansfield, Republican incumbent Terri Tallon-Hammill was the only person who filed as a candidate for a three-year Township Committee position.
In New Hanover, incumbent Republican Dennis Roohr has filed to run for re-election in the one three-year seat available on the Township Committee. There were no Democratic filings.
Names of candidates filing in North Hanover were not immediately available from the township.
Springfield will not be having a local municipal election this year, and Bordentown City holds its City Commission election in May, with the next election scheduled for 2009.
