Dayton raid ends in prostitution arrest

Day Spa in Liberty Mall is raided by police for second time in seven months. A 48-year-old woman is facing charges.

A 48-year-old Fort Lee woman is in jail on prostitution charges after police raided a Dayton massage business Thursday.
Police raided the Day Spa in the Liberty Mall on Thursday afternoon, the second time the business has been raided in seven months, police said.
The raid was the result of a three-week investigation into prostitution activity at the establishment, police said. Three different undercover officers set up appointments for massages, police said. In each case, the officer was solicited for sexual activity, police said.
Police charged Young Sook Kang, 48, of Fort Lee, with promoting prostitution. She was lodged in the Middlesex County Correction Center in lieu of $15,000 bail.
Police said it was the third time that Ms. Kang has been charged with promoting prostitution.
Police Chief Raymond Hayducka, who participated in the raid, said he was frustrated that the business has remained open.
"Legitimate businesses are always welcome in our community, but this place has got to be shut down," he said.
He said he participated in the raid to make sure Ms. Kang got "the message loud and clear" that "if you set up again I will place a uniformed officer outside you door."
Chief Hayducka said in a press release issued Friday that police were responding to numerous complaints from other businesses about the massage parlor. Police seized money, records, tables and a washer and dryer, the release said. This is the second time police have seized all the contents in the business, the release said.
Chief Hayducka said he is working with the mayor and Township Council to develop an ordinance to regulate spas and massage businesses.
