"Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye!" Rockingham State Historic Site will hold its annual Children’s Day event on Saturday, May 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Rockingham, which served as General GeorgeWashington’s last official wartime headquarters in1783, will offer activities and demonstrationsof 18th-century life. Children will be able to playfox-and-geese, try toys such as whimmy diddles, put onclothes that were in style in the 18th century, learn to write with quill and ink, make paper tricornered hats, tour the kitchen garden or watch re-enactments of 18th-century activities.
Light refreshments will be provided.
No registration is required. While admission to the event is free, donations will be very gladly accepted.
Rockingham is located on Route 603 (Laurel Avenue and Kingston-Rocky Hill Road), 1 mile north of Route 27 in Kingston (Franklin Township), and 1 mile south of Route 518 in Rocky Hill.
