The long-awaited Evans Tract Yard Sale will take place this Saturday, rain or shine.
The area of Cranbury included in the yard sale is off Station and Old Trenton Roads, including the Evans Tract, Stockton, Bergen, Handley and McKnight in Cranbury Greene. More than 40 families have signed on to make this Cranbury’s biggest yard sale ever.
Thanks to the efforts of coordinator Vic Scire of Stockton Street, lots of merchandise will be changing hands, and the First Aid Squad and Fire Department will each receive a generous donation from participating families.
This Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Gourgaud Gallery presents the second annual Student Film Festival.
The juried film festival includes entries from middle school students and high schoolers.
For a taste of the competition, visit www.rockinthebury.com.
The Princeton High School Studio Band will be performing at Cranbury School on Friday, May 4, from 7 p.m to 10 p.m. in the auditorium.
In addition to enjoying a performance by this award-winning group, the Cranbury School eighth-graders will hold a fundraising sale during the evening.
Cranbury Arts Council Summer Art and Tech camps are filling up quickly. As a matter of fact, two camps are filled Summer Theater Workshop and Intro to Robotics.
The Arts Council has added a second week of Intro to Robotics from July 16 to 20, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., which will replace Intro to Aeronautics. Any questions or requests for a brochure may be directed to the Arts Council at (609) 655-1705.
The Cranbury Arts Council would like to remind parents that need-based scholarships are available.
Last year, cyclist Peter Hyman, raised more than $6,500 for the Angel Charitable Trust during its annual Memorial Day Weekend bike event.
Peter is participating in AngelRide Connecticut, a 135-mile two-day biking event through the Connecticut Berkshires, including 9,750 feet of vertical climbing.
Exceeding his goal of $5,000 was a great feeling that Peter hopes to witness again this year. In fact, he raised his goal for 2007 to $7,500.
Peter is asking Cranbury friends and neighbors to support his ride, which will benefit the Camp in a Suitcase program.
Camp in a Suitcase is a hospital outreach program run by Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. In 2006, the Camp in a Suitcase made more than 1,100 hospital visits to sick children throughout New England.
Peter is pleased to report that 100 percent of the donations he receives will go to the charity, since all expenses are paid by corporate sponsorship and all the work is done by volunteers.
His daughter Rachel, who will graduate from Princeton High School in 2009, will be with him and will be a volunteer at the event helping out at the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.
