Pennington Borough will pay Hopewell Township $47,657 for police and emergency dispatch services this year under a three-year deal approved by the governments of both towns.
The Township Committee approved the pact April 23. Pennington approved it Monday night.
Pennington has its own police, fire and first aid units, but gets dispatch services from the township, which has a much a larger police facility. The township is 58 square miles. Pennington is less than one square mile.
Under the plan, Pennington’s costs for dispatch services will go up each year, to $49,563 in 2008 and $51,546 in 2009. The amounts for 2008 and 2009 can be increased if the actual costs of providing the dispatch services exceed the amounts now in the agreement.
A joint review by the two towns will determine whether Pennington exceeds the amounts in the pact.
Pennington resident Tom Ogren was appointed second alternate member of the borough Planning Board by Mayor Tony Persichilli, who also made three appointments to the borough Environmental Commission Monday night.
Mr. Ogren’s term on the Planning Board will run from July 7 to Dec. 31, 2008.
The three appointees to the Environmental Commission are Bill Alexander, Joanne Held and Liz Semple. All three appointments run from Jan. 1, 2007 to Dec. 31 2009. Ms. Semple is a reappointment. Ms. Held will be the commission’s first alternate member.
Paul Kvale was appointed the Shade Tree Commission.
The resignation of Linda Cargiano as coordinator of children’s programs at the borough library was accepted. Cindy Persichilli was appointed to take her place.
