FINANCIAL SERVICES
   Commerce Bank recently named C. Herbert Schneider vice president, commercial lending. Based in Mercerville, he will develop customized lending solutions for a wide range of commercial customers throughout Mercer County. He previously served as president and chief executive officer for First Washington State Bank.
   A resident of Robbinsville, Mr. Schneider is vice chairman and trustee for both Project Freedom and the Golden Cradle Adoption Agency and also serves as a trustee for Pfeiffer University.
TECHNOLOGY
   Dr. Don Newsome, Rear Admiral, USN (Ret.) has joined Sarnoff Corp. as president and chief executive officer. Dr. Newsome will be replacing Dr. James Carnes, who came out of retirement last August to serve as Sarnoff’s interim president and CEO.
   Dr. Newsome joins the company after four years as vice president and general manager of EDO Reconnaissance and Surveillance Systems, which engaged in the design and manufacture of signal intelligence and electronic warfare systems and products. Prior to EDO, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Navy where he managed a budget of several hundred million dollars and oversaw international programs for the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
   Founded in 1942 as RCA Laboratories, Sarnoff Corp., located in West Windsor, seeks innovations in electronic, video and vision technologies that generate successful new products and services for government and commercial clients worldwide. Sarnoff is a subsidiary of SRI International.
HEALTH & MEDICINE
   Hoffman-La Roche Inc. (Roche) honored medical representative and Plainsboro resident Karen Smith-Moore with the company’s special achievement award for her commitment to patient care and outstanding sales performance. The award recognizes individuals whose accomplishments have greatly exceeded expectations.
   Roche, based in Nutley, is the U.S. pharmaceuticals headquarters of the Roche Group, a global research-oriented healthcare group with core businesses in pharmaceuticals and diagnostics.

   The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, one of the largest charitable funders of type 1 diabetes research, named Dr. Paul Strumph as vice president and chief medical officer. Dr. Strumph will oversee clinical trials of JDRF-supported research and represent the foundation’s interests in the clinical components of the National Institutes of Health’s diabetes activities.
   Dr. Strumph has seven years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry from first-in-human to post-approval phase IV studies, most recently with Bristol-Myers Squibb & Co., where he served as executive director of metabolics, as well as with Merck KGaA, and GlaxoSmithKline. Dr. Strumph currently resides in Pennington.

   Plainsboro-based MJH & Associates, a healthcare education, publishing and research firm, welcomes several new employees to its group of companies:
   Kristin Comfort, of Hamilton, joins ArcMesa Educators as a client relationship manager. She will manage partners in the national continuing education dental network.
   At HRA Research, Milena Kareska and Jennifer Sleight join as a coders, handling pre-coding, coding and validating surveys while editing and verifying reports for accuracy and data entry; Greg Motta joins as a research manager and Diane Niebling as a telephone interviewer/recruiter.
   At Intellisphere, Joe Palumbo joins as national accounts manager, specializing in new business development, account management, client relations, market penetration, and proposal development for the medical network publications.
   Jessica Zelen has joined as executive assistant and will be supporting the president of MJH & Associates and providing backup support with administrative needs.
MARKETING
   The New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority appointed Lawrence H. Krampf as a trustee of the NJN Foundation Board, the fund-raising arm of NJN Public Television and Radio.
   Mr. Krampf is chief executive officer of Princeton Communications Group Inc., a full-service integrated advertising and marketing communications agency, headquartered in Pennington, that he founded in 1990.
   His community involvement includes serving in an executive position on the board of directors of the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce and Cancer Care Inc., and as a trustee for the Garden State Arts Center Foundation, the Thomas Edison College Foundation, and the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Krampf and his wife Vicki live in Hopewell, with their three children.

   Publicis Selling Solutions recently announced the following new hires and promotions: Margaret Blackwell has been hired as a field recruiter; Matt Weed has rejoined the firm as director, information technology; and Alan Wilson has transferred from Publicis Selling Solutions Group to the new role of finance director of Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare Innovations.
   Publicis Selling Solutions Group offers selling solutions to the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries through its companies, It has offices in Lawrenceville, Somerset, Blue Bell, Pa., and Boston, Mass.
LAW
   Richard H. Steen, a Lawrenceville resident who’s law firm, Richard H. Steen, LLC, is located in Princeton, will be installed as second vice president of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Mr. Steen is on track to assume the presidency of the NJSBA in 2010. He also serves as trustee for the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, the NJSBA’s philanthropic arm.
   A member of the NJSBA for 30 years he has served on the Board of Trustees from 1998 to 2004. He is the founding chair of the association’s dispute resolution section. Mr. Steen is a member of the Lawrence Township Municipal Court Mediation Committee and is active within the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church.
ENGINEERING
   Dennis W. O’Neal and Russell M. Smith have become partners in Hopewell Valley Engineering, a civil engineering firm. Both have been with the firm for over 15 years, and currently oversee most of its client projects. Mr. O’Neal is the municipal engineer for Hopewell Borough and East Amwell Township.
HONORS
   Pam Mount, Lawrence councilwoman and owner of Terhune Orchards, has been chosen by the National Association of Women Business Owners in conjunction with the Institute for Sustainable Enterprise at Farleigh Dickinson University to receive the "Women of Inspiration" award for her work in government and sustainability.
   Mrs. Mount and her husband Gary have owned and operated Terhune Orchards for 33 years. Mrs. Mount has served on the Lawrence Town Council for two terms. Additionally, she served as mayor in 2001 and 2005. She was also involved in organizing the Lawrence Community Foundation in 2002, which awards $100,000 each year to Lawrence non-profits. In 2005, Ms. Mount and other residents formed Sustainable Lawrence, a non-profit coalition whose mission is to encourage the people and institutions of Lawrence to adopt principles of sustainability.
