Hopewell Valley freshman Nicole Ferrara finished first in the 100-meter dash in 12.71 seconds at the Mercer County Girls Track Championships on Saturday.
It’s not the first county title for the freshman sprinter.
Ferrara took first in the 55 dash at the county championship during the indoor season.
The Hopewell freshman finished first by two hundredths of a second.
"There was a lot of competition," said Ferrara. "Everyone in the final was just amazing. It was a really close race. At the end it was like a photo-finish and it felt like we all crossed the line a the same time. We really had no clue who finished or last."
The 200 final was just as tight and Ferrara took sixth in that event with a time of 26.45.
In the 400 Hopewell sophomore Julie Alexander took third in 57.26, while senior Megan Fitzpatrick finished sixth in the 800 in 2:28.67.
