The Freehold Center Partnership (FCP) invites antiques collectors from far and wide to check out the trinkets and treasures from the past at the 10th annual Spring AntiqueFest/Art Show May 20 (rain date, May 27) from 9 am to 4 p.m. on West Main Street between Court and Throckmorton streets. More than 50 antiques and collectibles vendors will be on hand. In partnership with Freehold’s Cultural Arts Committee, the FCP will present an art show where local artists will exhibit and sell their artwork on the Hall of Records Plaza. The Cultural Arts Committee will also hold a Chalk Art Contest in the Hall of Records parking lot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for children from 5 to 18 years old. Visitors can also view the Metz Bicycle Museum at 54 W. Main St., which houses antique and rare bicycles, toys and more. The Art Society of Monmouth County will hold its annual spring luncheon 11 a.m. May 17 at Shore Casino Restaurant, Atlantic Highlands. Local artists will have the opportunity to network and enjoy an acrylic painting demonstration by guest speaker Robert A. Loder Jr.
In addition, an award scholarship will be presented to Ariel Redmond of Holmdel High School for her charcoal portrait of a young girl. Ariel is the winner of the annual Merit Award Show for high school seniors sponsored by the Art Society of Monmouth County.

The Mon-mouth Museum will present Daniel Schroll Collages May 18 to June 24. An opening reception will be held May 18, 5-7 p.m.
This exhibition in the Nilson Gallery includes collages, drawings and mixed media sculptures by Daniel Schroll, artist and professor of graphic design at Brookdale Community College since 1981. Prior to joining the faculty at Brookdale Community College, he was an adjunct at Seton Hall and a teaching assistant at Notre Dame. He also worked in the city printing (silkscreen) for Andy Warhol.
The Monmouth Museum is located on the Brookdale Community College Campus, Newman Springs Road, in Lincroft. The Main Gallery and Nilson Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Mitchell Sanborn Gallery, 46 West Front St., Keyport, will present “Eastern Europe: Historic and New Photographs” by Alan Leckner, president of Monmouth County Camera Club, May 19-June 9. The exhibit will consist of approximately 70 images chosen from 4,000 photos Leckner took on his recent trip to Eastern Europe where he traveled through Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The photos tell a story of life, death and regeneration. An artist’s reception will be held 5-7 p.m. May 19. Artists can express themselves using chalk May 19 at 2 p.m. at Jackson Township’s Chalk Day. Hosted by the Jackson Community Alliance and the Jackson Optimist Club, the event will be held at the Jackson ShopRite, 260 North County Line Road. The free community event will feature awards for all participants, music and refreshments. Judging will be done by Jackson’s mayor, Mark Seda, in addition to members of the Jackson Police Department, Jackson Community Alliance and the Jackson Optimist Club. No preregistration is necessary. More than 100 exhibitors showing will display their wildfowl carvings, decoys, songbirds, carving supplies, books, artwork and more at Ocean County YMCA’s 23rd annual Toms River Art & Decoy Festival. The event will be held May 19, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Poland Springs Arena at the Ritacco Center, 1245 Old Freehold Road, Toms River. Admission: $5. Ages 10 and under are free of charge.
Special events will include an auction, free seminars and carving competitions. Kids ages 5 and up will have the opportunity to paint a decoy.
All proceeds will benefit the Ocean County YMCA’s Y-Cares Scholarship program, which allows struggling families and those in crisis to participate in health and wellness programs.
